Job Summary:

The Engineering Manager oversees engineering projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals and industry standards. This role involves managing a team of engineers, guiding them in the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment specific to Dodge products. The Engineering Manager is responsible for strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance evaluation, while maintaining high standards in safety, quality, and efficiency. Additionally, this role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams to support production, troubleshoot technical issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring they meet organizational goals and industry standards.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor progress to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance and support in designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, encouraging professional growth and development.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for engineering projects, aligning them with organizational objectives.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure project success and optimal performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in engineering management
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent project management and strategic planning abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards in safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Previous project management training and/or experience
  • Lean certification a plus
  • Solid customer service demeanor
  • Close attention to detail/accuracy
  • Proven ability to set and meet deadlines

Physical Demands:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a workstation
  • Speaking in person and over the telephone or Teams online and the ability to hear, comprehend, and document detailed information from others
  • Ability to type, reach, and grasp
  • Intermittent standing and walking within the plant environment
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing for extended periods over the phone and in person
  • Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint proficiency
  • Ability to work in manufacturing sites, including foundries, steel mills, machine shops, forging shops, assembly centers, etc.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for engineering team members, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement
  • Set performance goals and monitor progress to ensure high standards in safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to support manufacturing operations
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to ensure smooth production processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing performance and reduce costs
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • Regular in-person attendance at work is a necessary function of the role
