Overview

In support of our growing Garmin Marathon Series and merchandising efforts, we are seeking a full-time Graphic Designer 2 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategically-focused creative solutions for traditional and digital mediums and preparing final artwork for production on moderately complex projects.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate, conceptualize and design layouts for moderately complex projects and presentations
  • Exercise independent judgment to lead creative reviews across multiple moderately complex project types
  • Oversee layouts into finished comps for approvals and for final production, including printer and vendor specifications
  • Identify and define project parameters in collaboration with team members and business partners to ensure brand alignment
  • Complete broadly-defined, moderately complex projects for print, social, digital and more, leveraging knowledge of multiple creative disciplines
  • Evaluate proposed and ongoing programs and projects to provide meaningful feedback and direction
  • Collaborate and add value in design reviews
  • Proactively recommend improvement of processes, standards and guidelines
  • Apply a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other Garmin associates and perform as a contributor on cross functional teams to achieve goals
  • Understand and apply Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values & Quality Policy
  • Direct small-scale photo and video shoots

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND a minimum of 1 year related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent academic qualifications with ability to effectively apply learned knowledge
  • Proficient in Mac OS computer skills utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and Keynote
  • Portfolio demonstrating experience in developing basic projects in design and layout
  • Good awareness in the application of pre-press production methods and final production follow through
  • Good working awareness of various methods and resources to implement a concept or idea
  • Aptitude to learn and effectively apply knowledge of Communications practices, processes, programs and technology
  • Ability to estimate the level of effort for a task
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of Garmin’s organization, customers, market segments, products, operations and strategies
  • Demonstrate effective time management, organizational and follow-up skills with a keen attention to detail and quality

Problem solving and conflict resolution experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Figma
  • College degree in Visual Communication, Graphic Design or related field
  • Experience designing materials and campaigns for sports events
