Azure Cloud / DepOps Support & Integration Engineer

Want to be a part of Asia Pacific & Japan’s (APJ) largest, most innovative, and rapidly growing data centre company?

AirTrunk is a technology company with a powerful purpose - to scale and sustain the relentless growth of the region’s digital future. We do this by continuously redefining and delivering hyperscale data centres that meet the needs of our customers - the world’s most transformational companies. And we’re doing so sustainably, for today and tomorrow.

Having opened Australia’s first and largest hyperscale data centres in 2017, we set our eyes on rapid expansion and now operate a platform of hyperscale data centres across the APJ region. With backing from our investors, including Blackstone, this is just the beginning…

Come join the A-Team at AirTrunk, where the cloud meets the ground.

A Snapshot

This role should be positioned primarily as an Azure Cloud and DevOps support role, with secondary responsibility for integration coding. The ideal candidate is strong in Azure operations, DevOps pipelines, automation, monitoring, incident resolution, and production support, while also being capable of working on APIs and integration-related development when required.

You will work within the Integration Practice, collaborating with solution architects, product owners, and application/data teams to ship secure, scalable, observable integrations, fast.

Your Day to Day

Build & DevOps (Engineering at Scale)

  • Manage, support, and troubleshoot Azure cloud environments.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
  • Support production systems, incidents, deployments, and environment issues.
  • Work with Azure services such as App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Storage, Key Vault, Azure SQL, API Management, and Entra ID.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational dashboards.
  • Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using scripts, IaC, or DevOps tooling.
  • Support integration platforms, APIs, and data flows between systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis and improve system reliability.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, vendors, and business teams to resolve issues.
  • Ensure cloud environments follow security, governance, and operational best practices

Architecture & Solution Design:

  • Own end‑to‑end integration architecture for features and platforms (E2E flows, domain boundaries, data contracts, and runtime topologies).
  • Design API-first solutions (REST/GraphQL/SOAP), event-driven integrations, and streaming patterns using best-fit services (e.g., Azure API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid; or equivalent on AWS/GCP).
  • Select patterns and standards (synchronous vs. async, choreography vs. orchestration, pub/sub, idempotency, retries, DLQs, exactly-once/at-least-once).
  • Embed security by design (OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, key rotation, secret management, data protection at rest/in transit).

Integration Engineering (TypeScript-first)

  • Build integration services, adapters, and APIs—primarily in TypeScript/Node.js—using modern patterns and robust error handling, resilience, and observability.
  • Implement data transformation (JSON, XML, Avro), mapping, validation, and schema governance; ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.

 AI‑Assisted & Agentic Engineering

  • Use AI coding agents to accelerate delivery (code generation, test scaffolding, PR suggestions, refactors, documentation).
  • Apply agentic frameworks such as LangChain (or similar) for developer tooling, automation, and integration observability/ops augmentation where appropriate.
  • Contribute patterns for responsible AI use (guardrails, review flows, IP protection, secret hygiene).

 Stakeholder Engagement (Forward‑Deployed)

  • Work directly with stakeholders to refine requirements, run technical workshops, and translate business needs into architecture and executable backlogs.
  • Produce high‑quality technical artefacts (diagrams, ADRs, sequence diagrams, API specs/Contracts, runbooks).
  • Mentor engineers, conduct peer reviews, and uplift engineering standards across teams.

 Reliability, Security, and Operations

  • Build observable services (structured logging, metrics, traces—e.g., OpenTelemetry), dashboards, and alerts.
  • Lead incident response and RCA; drive corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, data privacy, and audit requirements.

Requirements

 Essential:

  • 5+ years in software/integration engineering, with extensive hands-on DevOps and technical architecture experience.
  • Proven delivery on Azure and familiarity with AWS and/or GCP equivalents.
  • Expert in CI/CD pipeline engineering (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions; or CodePipeline/Cloud Build): multi-stage pipelines, approvals, environments, secrets, quality gates, artifact promotion, and progressive delivery.
  • Strong TypeScript/Node.js engineering, including test automation (unit, integration, contract testing with Pact or equivalent), performance testing, and secure coding practices.
  • Deep knowledge of Git (branching strategies, PR workflows), Docker, API design (REST/GraphQL/SOAP), and data formats (JSON, XML).
  • Hands-on with event-driven architectures and messaging (Azure Service Bus/Event Grid, Kafka, or SNS/SQS).
  • Proficient with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep) and configuration management.
  • Solid understanding of API Management (Azure APIM, Kong, Apigee, or equivalent), observability (logs/metrics/traces), and SRE practices (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets).
  • Comfortable engaging directly with stakeholders (product, domain SMEs, vendors) and operating as a forward‑deployed engineer.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and performance tuning skills across distributed systems.
  • Experience working in Agile and hybrid environments; excellent written and verbal communication.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of serverless integration patterns (Azure Functions/Lambda) and Kubernetes (AKS/EKS/GKE).
  • Security expertise: OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, JWT, WAF, secrets management (Key Vault/Secrets Manager), certificate lifecycle.
  • Exposure to ERP/CRM/HRIS/data platforms (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, Workday, Snowflake, Databricks).
  • AI/agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar) for developer productivity or integration automation.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tooling (SonarQube, Snyk/Dependabot, OWASP ZAP, Trivy, kube-bench).
  • Global or APAC program experience; certifications in Azure/AWS/GCP or integration platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Global or APAC experience a benefit.
