We're expanding our work in China and seeking a motivated, dedicated and entrepreneurial Project Manager to manage our international projects and programmes. Job Description
About the role
Reporting to the Program Deputy Director of Proforest China, you will play an essential role in the management and delivery of Proforest’s international programs and projects in China, in the area of sustainable agricultural and forestry commodities, with focus on commodities such as soy, beef, palm oil, timber, wood pulp, rubber, sugar, coffee. The position involves managing and contributing to a range of international programs and projects, business development and coordination, related to agricultural and forestry sustainability, particularly in relation to responsible sourcing and green supply chain management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and deliver international projects and programmes, taking responsibilities for effective planning, co-ordination and implementation. Work closely with colleagues across Proforest’s regional offices to ensure high-quality and timely delivery, including project planning, budgeting, stakeholder meetings, proposal development, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the relevant policy, market and strategic developments relating to the sustainable management and sourcing of forestry and agricultural commodities, and apply this understanding to project and programme delivery
- Build and manage effective relationships with key stakeholders across commodity supply chains including government departments, chambers of commerce, industry associations, private sector, support agencies, civil society organisations. Facilitate stakeholder engagement and collaboration to advance project and programme objectives.
- Contribute to business development and organisational growth by identifying and developing opportunities for new projects, fundraising and strategic partnerships.

About you
You’ll be passionate about what we do and, you’ll thrive in an evolving, growing organisation and be excited to take on new challenges. You will also have:
- Minimum of 6 years of proven professional experience working in sustainable agriculture and/or forestry. Familiarity with themes including deforestation-free production, responsible sourcing, green supply chains, sustainable trade and related subject areas.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects.
- Master’s degree or above in agriculture, forestry or related fields.
- Strong understanding of China’s sustainability landscape, commercial practices and policy environment
- Solutions driven
- Ability to develop and maintain meaningful relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
- Demonstrates integrity and good team player skills.
- Your will have knowledge and experience with green supply chains for soft commodities in one of more of the following commodities; palm oil, sugar, soy, cattle, natural rubber, timber or forest commodities.

Key information
Location: Beijing, China
Hybrid working: Proforest operates on a hybrid basis. The role requires office attendance twice a week. We encourage staff to attend the office regularly to maximise interactions with colleagues and encourage collaboration, but we also appreciate individual circumstances and preferences. We’d expect more office attendance at the start of employment to enable a smooth induction.
Travel requirement: Some international and/or domestic travel is required

Salary: CNY 300,000 – 400,000/year
Other benefits: Five Social Insurances plus Housing Fund, paid annual leave (10‑day annual leave for employees with less than 10 years of work experience, while 15‑day annual leave for employees with 10-15 years of work experience)
