Full description

Summary: Responsible for planning, developing, managing, and sustaining Aerostar Business Unit's products throughout the product lifecycle. Identifies customer needs, define product requirements, develop product strategies and roadmaps, and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Program Management, Business Development, Sales, Marketing, and customers to deliver products that support business objectives and customer missions. Responsibilities progress from managing individual products to leading complex product portfolios, driving strategic initiatives, influencing organizational direction, and serving as technical and business experts within the Product Management function.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs all essential functions of the Product Manager.
  • Independently leads the strategy, planning, and lifecycle management of complex products or an assigned product family.
  • Develops comprehensive product roadmaps that balance customer needs, market opportunities, technical feasibility, cost, schedule, risk, and company objectives.
  • Leads cross-functional product initiatives and facilitates decisions regarding product requirements, priorities, investments, and lifecycle activities.
  • Develops business cases and recommendations for new products, product enhancements, and strategic investments.
  • Leads customer discussions to identify current and future capability requirements and translates those needs into product strategy.
  • Evaluates product performance, market position, competitive threats, and emerging technologies and recommends appropriate business actions.
  • Leads product launches, major enhancements, sustainment strategies, and product retirement planning.
  • Establishes and maintains documentation, requirements, decision records, and operational processes for assigned products or product families.
  • Provides guidance and technical support to less experienced Product Management personnel.
  • Supports significant proposal, capture, demonstration, and customer engagements.
  • Leads customer meetings, product demonstrations, industry events, market research, and business capture activities to identify current and future customer requirements, evaluate competitive positioning, and influence product strategy and roadmap development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Product Management, or a related technical discipline, or experience in lieu of.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in product management or related technical roles.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex products or multiple product initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Everything required of a Product Manager, plus:
  • Advanced knowledge of product strategy and roadmap development.
  • Experience developing and managing a variety of product types, including software, hardware, data, service, and integrated capability products. Product specialization may be required based on business needs.
  • Ability to independently manage complex products or product families.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence product decisions across multiple organizations.

Leadership and Management: This position does not have any direct reports. May provide functional leadership and mentoring to less experienced Product Management personnel and lead cross-functional product teams.
