Cybersecurity Intern, Penetration Testing Services - Summer 2027

Description

The Cybersecurity Intern supports Sensiba's Penetration Testing Services team within the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) practice. This role provides hands-on exposure to cybersecurity consulting engagements focused on identifying and evaluating security vulnerabilities across networks, applications, cloud environments, and other technology platforms. Interns will work alongside penetration testers and cybersecurity professionals to assist with information gathering, vulnerability analysis, security assessments, documentation, and client deliverables. The internship is designed to provide foundational experience in offensive security, cybersecurity risk management, vulnerability management, and security testing methodologies while developing technical, analytical, and consulting skills. Sensiba's penetration testing team helps organizations identify and remediate security risks through simulated real-world attack scenarios across internal and external networks, web applications, cloud environments, and social engineering assessments.

As a Sensiba intern, you'll join our award-winning internship program, gaining hands-on experience while developing technical and professional skills. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing engagements.
  • Support information gathering and reconnaissance activities during security assessments.
  • Assist with identifying, documenting, and validating security vulnerabilities.
  • Review scan results and help analyze potential security risks.
  • Research emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
  • Assist with the evaluation of network, application, and cloud security controls.
  • Support the review of internal and external network configurations.
  • Participate in testing activities involving web applications, cloud environments, and other technology platforms.
  • Help identify potential attack paths and areas for security improvement.
  • Assist with documenting security findings and remediation recommendations.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Enrollment at an accredited university pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major or emphasis in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expected completion of bachelors or masters degree between Spring 2027 and Spring 2028.
  • Minimum major GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Basic understanding of networking, operating systems, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools used for vulnerability management or security testing.
  • Pursuit of cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, Network+, eJPT, or similar credentials.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • High level of motivation to learn and produce high-quality work.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and a sophisticated client base.
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team to meet periodic and project-based client deadlines.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

This role offers a competitive base salary along with a comprehensive benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S.-based positions are determined by geographic location and fall into one of three pay zones, which reflect the cost of labor in that area. The anticipated hourly range for this position are outlined below and are subject to change: 

  • $24.00/hour - $30.00/hour
