Job Duties and Responsibilities: Network Administrator (Tier 1/2) Network Operations and Support 1. Manage, configure, and monitor network routing and switching equipment across multiple unclassified and classified enclaves. 2. Operate and troubleshoot enterprise-level networking hardware, utilizing hands-on familiarity with both Cisco and Juniper networking equipment and operating systems. 3. Resolve all network administration support requests and actively collaborate with other IT shops to assist with complex requirements that cross multiple areas of responsibility. 4. Serve as the Tier 2 escalation point for advanced help desk support tickets, resolving complex connectivity, port activation, and VLAN assignment issues that exceed Tier 1 capabilities. Infrastructure and Lifecycle Management 1. Organize, cable, and maintain telecommunications rooms and network cabinets, ensuring all physical infrastructure is brought up to and maintained at current Air Force standards. 2. Research, design, and implement a comprehensive lifecycle management and hardware replacement plan for all networking infrastructure. Documentation and Configuration Management 1. Update, draft, and maintain accurate network topology maps and physical building diagrams for all supported unclassified and classified networks. Security and Compliance 1. Ensure all network infrastructure remains fully compliant with current Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). 2. Obtain and maintain DoD 8570.01-M / 8140 baseline certification requirements, such as CompTIA Security+, necessary to establish and maintain privileged access accounts on both NIPRnet and SIPRnet.
