Radio Frequency Network Engineer I - Tactical Communications SME

Overview

Tech(x) is seeking a Radio Frequency (RF) Network Engineer I to support Army tactical-edge network mission planning, radio network integration, communications systems testing, and modernization initiatives. The engineer will develop and provision tactical radio network plans, integrate radio systems across platforms, and conduct laboratory and field-based risk-reduction testing in support of reliable Warfighter communications.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on tactical communications expertise with strong systems engineering, technical evaluation, troubleshooting, and documentation skills. Experience with Army tactical radio systems, mission-planning applications, Integrated Tactical Network technologies, and system-of-systems test environments is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, provision, validate, and sustain tactical radio network plans for Army tactical-edge communications systems.
  • Use Program of Record and vendor mission-planning applications, such as Atom, Atomic, Harris CPA, Collins CAMP, Thales PC Programmer and NB PC Configuration Toolkit, and TrellisWare tools.
  • Plan and execute laboratory and field-based risk-reduction tests; identify key mission tasks, coordinate resources, document results, and resolve hardware, software, and interoperability anomalies.
  • Support research, development, system integration, and system-of-systems testing for Integrated Tactical Network and other emerging tactical communications technologies.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, standards, software sustainment guidance, technical documentation, and system evaluation reports.
  • Integrate, configure, troubleshoot, and sustain tactical radio and communications systems, including SINCGARS, EPLRS, CSEL, JTRS Ground Mobile Radios, and related network infrastructure.
  • Perform RF and platform-integration testing, including coax and network equipment testing and VSWR measurements, to validate installation quality and system performance.
  • Analyze network performance and operational requirements and recommend hardware, software, configuration, and process improvements that increase reliability and mission effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, program offices, government personnel, contractors, and Warfighters to support technical evaluations, field missions, and transition-to-sustainment activities.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, field support, and troubleshooting assistance to military and government users.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Tactical Radio Network Engineering
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Army tactical-edge network mission planning, tactical radio systems, waveforms, network initialization, and communications architectures.
  • Experience developing or provisioning tactical radio network plans and supporting systems such as SINCGARS, EPLRS, CSEL, JTRS Ground Mobile Radios, or comparable platforms.
  • Ability to translate Warfighter mission needs into technical, operational, and mission-planning requirements.
  • Test and Systems Integration• Experience planning and conducting laboratory and field testing, including risk reduction, troubleshooting, technical evaluation, and anomaly resolution.
  • Experience integrating tactical radio systems into platforms and system-of-systems environments; familiarity with RF measurements such as VSWR is strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Tactical Network modernization, network operations, sustainment, and transition from production to sustainment.
  • Mission Planning Tools and Professional Skills
  • Experience with one or more tactical radio mission-planning tools, including Atom, Atomic, Harris CPA, Collins CAMP, Thales PC Programmer or NB PC Configuration Toolkit, TrellisWare tools, or comparable applications.
  • Strong technical writing, oral communication, decision-making, resource-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and a respectful, customer-focused demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Army Signal Corps or comparable tactical communications experience, including direct support to Warfighters in operational or field environments.
  • Experience leading technical test missions or engineering teams and working in a technical laboratory, research and development, acquisition, or program office environment.

Clearance:

  • Active DoD TS/SCI Secret clearance.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 10-15 years in the field of tactical communications.
  • Three or more years of experience in RF communications, tactical radio networks, mission planning, communications systems testing, or systems integration.
  • Four years of directly relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Engineer in Training certification, systems engineering or acquisition certification, and Army Signal training are preferred but not required.

Location:

  • Ft. Huachuca, Arizona.
  • On-site.

Travel:

  • Travel requirements will fluctuate but are not expected to exceed 15%.
