About Swoop:

Swoop Technologies has a mission to organize and make accessible the world’s military and critical infrastructure. We are building a distributed operating system, SwoopOS, that decomposes the world’s equipment into a distributed robotic embodiment upon which a new generation of distributed systems, autonomous systems, and agentic AI can be built and deployed using our SDK, Valhalla, and operated via our browser, Surf. Imagine the world’s equipment - consisting of the electrical grid, communications architectures, manufacturing facilities, and militaries as a trapped supply of inputs possessing the potential to ensure Western military advantage, sovereign control of economically competitive manufacturing capacity, or the creation of a grid that fosters energy dominance. Swoop is liberating these trapped assets, allowing them to contribute to the world’s future as a series of building blocks to be combined at the speed of software, limited by only the hard constraints of physics and the soft constraints of safety. That is what Swoop is building. Not in the data center or cloud or edge on-premise computing node. In the physical world. This is a hybrid position that requires someone based in Washington DC who can work in-office 3+ days per week

Your Impact:

At Swoop, we're unlocking interoperability and distributed computing across the complex, disconnected systems that have held back innovation for decades. This mission requires a network that is secure, resilient, and built to perform under pressure. That's where you come in. As a Network Engineer, you'll be the one ensuring the infrastructure beneath our platform can be trusted by hardening our systems against threats through STIG compliance and rigorous access control, and keeping our network fast and available so the technology we're building never misses a beat. In an environment where the stakes are mission-critical, your work securing and stabilizing our network directly protects the integrity of what Swoop is building. This is a role where precision matters and helps build the foundation our customers depend on.

What You’ll Do:

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network infrastructure including switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure secure and reliable connectivity across the enterprise
  • Implement and manage security policies using Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC) and Identity Services Engine (ISE), including 802.1x/MAB authentication, posture control, and access policy enforcement
  • Apply and maintain STIGs and other security hardening standards across network devices to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor network performance and health, proactively identifying and resolving issues through packet captures, log analysis, and access control list troubleshooting
  • Design, deploy, and support VPN connectivity, including Site-to-Site IPsec tunnels and Cisco Secure Client, to enable secure remote and inter-site access

You Should Have:

  • CCNA and Security+ Certifications
  • Experience implementing and maintaining STIGs on network devices
  • Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC), Identity Services Engine (ISE), and IOS-XE experience
  • Strong understanding and experience in Cisco firewall policy implementation, network monitoring, firewall updates, secure client updates, and NAT configurations
  • Strong track record in writing and maintaining L3 switch access control lists
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Cisco ISE policy writing and maintenance, 802.1x authentication troubleshooting, MAB authentication troubleshooting, posture control, and general administration experience in ISE to include patching, upgrading, and recovery operations
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, Layer 2 technologies such as STP, EtherChannel, Trunking, L3 routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and subnetting
  • Experience in configuring and supporting VPNs to include Site-to-Site IPsec tunnels and Cisco Secure Client VPN
  • Expertise in network troubleshooting using packet captures and access control lists
  • Implementation and maintenance of industry standard network security best practices

Bonus if you have:

  • CCNP Certification
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Network Operations Center (NOC) experience
  • Automation experience with either Ansible or Python
  • Familiarity with cloud networking in AWS
  • Cisco Umbrella experience
  • Wireless experience
  • Linux experience
