Full description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Manager to lead and manage project controls functions across major construction and infrastructure projects. The role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust project controls systems covering planning, scheduling, cost management, risk, change management, progress measurement, forecasting, and reporting.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Director, Commercial, Engineering, Construction, and Client teams to provide accurate and timely information to support project decision-making and ensure projects are delivered in accordance with approved time, cost, and performance objectives.

Key Responsibilities• Lead the overall Project Controls function, integrating planning, cost, risk, change, progress measurement, and reporting activities.

  • Establish and maintain project controls procedures, systems, processes, and reporting standards in accordance with project and client requirements.
  • Develop, review, and maintain integrated master schedules, baseline programmes, recovery programmes, and detailed execution schedules.
  • Monitor project progress against approved baselines and identify schedule slippage, critical path issues, and potential delays.
  • Manage cost control activities, including budgets, commitments, actual costs, forecasts, cash flow, and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
  • Coordinate with Commercial and Contracts teams on variations, claims, change orders, and their impact on cost and schedule.
  • Develop and maintain project earned value, progress measurement, and performance management systems where applicable.
  • Lead the preparation of weekly, monthly, and executive-level project controls reports and dashboards.
  • Provide management with accurate analysis of schedule performance, cost performance, trends, risks, and forecast outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain project risk registers, facilitating quantitative and qualitative risk assessments and monitoring mitigation actions.
  • Review contractor and consultant schedules, progress reports, cost reports, and performance submissions.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of progress reporting across multiple contractors, consultants, and project workstreams.
  • Identify trends and potential issues early and provide recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support project leadership in developing recovery strategies for delayed or underperforming packages.
  • Coordinate with project teams to establish appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and performance dashboards.
  • Ensure effective integration between planning, cost, risk, commercial, procurement, engineering, and construction functions.
  • Lead and mentor Project Controls Engineers, Planners, Cost Engineers, and other project controls personnel.
  • Support senior management and the client with strategic project performance analysis and decision-making.
  • Ensure project controls documentation, data, and reporting comply with established governance and quality requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of relevant project controls experience, preferably on major construction, infrastructure, mixed-use, real estate, or giga-projects.
  • Minimum 10 years in major building projects with PMC or Tier 1 contractor.
  • Strong experience working within a PMC, consultancy, client, or major contractor environment.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, change management, and project reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 and strong proficiency in Excel and project reporting tools.
  • Experience with Power BI, dashboards, and data visualization is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of project controls methodologies, baseline management, forecasting, earned value, and performance measurement.
  • Excellent understanding of construction contracts, variations, claims, and commercial interfaces.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
