Full description
About the job At Bluebeam, we empower people to advance the way the world is built. We create smart software solutions that make construction sites more efficient, connected, and safe, and improve the lives of design and construction professionals everywhere.
The DevOps Engineer builds, automates and scales the cloud infrastructure that runs the SiteDocs platform. The position exists to make delivery of software to production reliable, repeatable and secure, and to keep the platform available to customers. The position also provides engineering-led operational coverage for the APAC region — monitoring platform health, responding to production incidents and supporting Australian data centre infrastructure during local business hours. The role partners with software engineering teams in North America and elsewhere to design systems for scale and resilience, streamline deployment pipelines, and remove manual operational work through automation.
What You'll Do
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions:
- Designs, implements, and maintains CI/CD pipelines and release automation using GitHub and Azure DevOps.
- Builds and manages cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, provisioning and maintaining environments through infrastructure as code (Terraform).
- Monitors system performance, availability, capacity, and security, and acts on alerts before they affect customers.
- Troubleshoots and resolves production issues, performs root cause analysis, and implements
changes that improve platform reliability.
- Provides operational and on-call coverage for the platform in the APAC time zone, including participation in the follow-the-sun incident response rotation.
- Automates manual and repetitive infrastructure and deployment tasks to reduce operational risk and release friction.
- Collaborates with software engineering, QA, and security colleagues across time zones to design systems that scale and operate securely.
- Documents infrastructure, runbooks, and operational procedures so operational knowledge is shared across regions.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar engineering role
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services
- Infrastructure as code, with Terraform preferred
- Hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and automation processes (GitHub, Azure DevOps)
- Working knowledge of Git and version control workflows
- Good understanding of system and solution architecture, including how to design for scale and resilience
- Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise production systems
Soft skills
- Works independently and owns tasks from start to finish
- Proactive mindset — anticipates problems and takes initiative rather than waiting for direction
- Collaborative team spirit, effective within a distributed, cross-time-zone team · Problem-solving attitude in support of the product and colleagues
- Clear verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical audiences
Required Years of Experience
- Total years in field/career: 5+ years in software engineering, IT infrastructure or cloud operations
- Minimum years in specific function: 3+ years in a dedicated DevOps, SRE or cloud infrastructure role, including hands-on Microsoft Azure and infrastructure as code
- Specific Education or Certifications Required(i.e. Bachelor’s Degree, MBA, PMP, CPA, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
- Preferred education or experience, but not required
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Network implementation and architecture (VNets, gateways, security)
- Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash)
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot)
- Knowledge of SQL databases
- Microsoft Azure certification (e.g. AZ-104, AZ-400)
- Experience supporting a multi-region SaaS platform and its data centre infrastructure
- Supervisory Responsibility
