About Tin Can

Tin Can is building a safer, simpler way for kids to connect — without smartphones. We're creating screen-free, delightful devices and services that let families call the people who matter most, free from the noise of today's digital world.

We're building a bold, authentic, nostalgic, and kinda quirky brand that resonates with folks who want something simpler & better for their kids than the tech-infused lives we're currently living (and who have a sense of humor about it).

The Role

A parent who almost buys a Tin Can and doesn't is a kid who doesn't get to call Miggy, or Nona, for that matter. And a Tin Can that only calls other Tin Cans isn't giving a family everything it could.

We're looking for a Staff Product Manager to make sure fewer families fall through the cracks between wanting a Tin Can and actually having one, and to help the families who do get one find their way onto the Party Line Plan, so calling grandparents, cousins, and family friends is just as easy as calling another Tin Can. The earliest part of that journey — the ads, the site, the moment someone first considers us — has to look and feel as good as the product itself. Making that so is your job.

You'll turn hunches into a real, testable backlog, ship things in partnership with engineering, and learn fast from what works and what doesn't. You'll partner closely with the Head of Product and Brand, but own this end to end — finding what's actually standing between a family and a Tin Can, and going and fixing it. This is a hands-on role for someone who obsesses over the details of how a family decides, has real taste for what makes someone stop and pay attention, and knows how to move fast without cutting corners.

What You'll Do

  • Find the biggest reasons families don’t buy a Tin Can, or doesn't get the most out of one, and go fix them
  • Talk to families to understand what messages actually resonate, and which ones don't
  • Turn broad goals into clear hypotheses and a focused, testable backlog
  • Design and ship product bets in close partnership with engineering
  • Build the systems and tooling that let us test faster — not just one experiment at a time, but a real testing engine
  • Define success metrics and help us build the instrumentation to measure them honestly
  • Run experiments, synthesize what you learn, and make clear calls on what to scale, iterate on, or stop
  • Collaborate with leadership to align your work with overall product strategy and values
  • Pitch in across the product surface as a senior generalist when needed, while maintaining clear ownership of your area

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of consumer product management experience in consumer growth
  • A quant, you love a well-run experiment and you're comfortable being the most data-driven person in the room
  • A track record of moving conversion or attach-rate metrics, not just shipping features
  • Comfortable with research too; you can turn conversations with families into hypotheses
  • Exceptional taste, with real respect for Brand, a high-converting site has to feel like us
  • A strong cross-team collaborator — you'll work daily with engineering, Brand, and marketing to get things done
  • Excellent judgment around user trust, quality, and long-term tradeoffs, especially building for kids and the parents who trust us
  • Technical and data fluency — you get numbers, think in systems, understand scaling
  • Fluency using AI as a multiplier in your work; this is how we work, not a nice-to-have
  • Ability to move work forward with little oversight, while partnering closely on strategy
  • Hands-on and scrappy approach; you'd rather write the copy or dig into the data yourself than wait on someone else
  • Low ego, high enthusiasm — you cheer as loud for someone else's idea as your own

Why Join Tin Can

  • We're building tech that protects childhood: We're on a quest to give kids a more analog childhood — one with real conversations, real connection, and way less screen time. No doomscrolling, data mining, or dopamine traps — just a simpler, better way for kids to stay in touch. This is a rare opportunity to build something that truly matters.
  • You'll own a lever that compounds: Conversion and attach rate directly impact the top line — the stronger they are, the more we can invest in everything else. You'll have real ownership of execution and a growing say in strategy as you prove out the area.
  • Small, high-trust team: Every company says "team," but at Tin Can it means something different. We're a small, mission-driven group that genuinely has each other's backs — professionally and personally. You'll be joining a tight-knit crew where your ideas and instincts matter from day one.
  • Room to explore, not just execute: You'll have the space to explore new ideas, challenge assumptions, and shape a product experience that reflects our values of trust, simplicity, and care.

If you're excited by the idea of taking a product families already love and making it something they can't imagine living without, please reach out. We can't wait to meet someone who's ready to jump in, own a goal that matters, and help us grow.
