Senior Business Analyst – Treasury

Sydney | Permanent | Full-Time | 50% office attendance

At CommBank, our purpose is to improve the financial wellbeing of our customers and communities. Group Treasury plays a critical role in managing the Group's balance sheet, liquidity, funding and non-traded market risks while supporting sustainable growth and regulatory compliance.

As a Senior Business Analyst in the Treasury Crew, you will lead the analysis and delivery of business and technology change initiatives across Group Treasury. You will partner with business and technology stakeholders to define requirements, support solution design, drive testing and implementation activities, and deliver strategic outcomes across Liquidity, IRRBB, Transfer Pricing, Hedge Accounting, Securitisation, and Regulatory Change.

Key responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyse and document business, regulatory and technology requirements across strategic, quarterly and sprint delivery horizons.
  • Define current and future-state processes and identify opportunities to simplify operations, improve data quality and increase automation.
  • Analyse complex data flows, reporting requirements and system interactions across Treasury and Technology.
  • Translate business requirements into user stories, process models, business rules, functional specifications and solution design inputs.
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions across Treasury, Data and Technology teams.
  • Support backlog refinement, prioritisation and delivery planning with Product Owners and technology teams.
  • Support solution design, testing, defect resolution, and business readiness activities. 
  • Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies, driving timely resolution and informed decision-making.
  • Ensure strong governance, documentation and traceability across requirements, solutions and delivery outcomes.

We are seeking people who:

  • Have Industry experience and understanding of Balance sheet and Treasury Operations.
  • Have knowledge of financial markets, instruments, and regulations.
  • Strong Treasury domain expertise, with demonstrated proficiency in Liquidity, Transfer Pricing (TP), or IRRBB.
  • Analyse and document business/functional processes and requirements using standard analysis methodologies and tools,
  • Strong capabilities in requirements elicitation, business process analysis, impact assessment and solution design.
  • Experience working with complex data, reporting requirements and system integrations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across business and technology teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Curiosity, critical thinking, and a delivery-focused mindset.
  • Are enthusiastic, be able to contribute and learn from wider talent in the team.

Desirable

  • Ab initio background is regarded.
  • SQL, data analysis, and reporting tool experience (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experience with data aggregation, standardization, linking, quality check mechanisms, and reporting,
  • Experience in handling large volumes of data.
  • Experience in working in Agile teams, including working closely with internal business stakeholders.
  • A degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business, Accounting, Information Systems or a related discipline.
