About us

At Xelix, we work with some of the world’s largest companies to automate and strengthen their financial controls. Our AI solutions redefine how Accounts Payable teams operate - moving from manual processes to automated, intelligent workflows.

Xelix is a fast-paced scale-up - things move fast and expectations are high. We raised our Series B with Insight Partners in June 2025 and are expanding aggressively, whilst remaining profitable. We have over 100 talented people pulling together to achieve our goals. Everyone is trusted to take ownership, move fast and have a meaningful impact. We prioritise personal and professional growth, keep things fun & we love to celebrate a milestone together.

In this role you’ll grow, be challenged and help shape the future of Xelix. If you’re excited about building something special with us, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

As a Senior Product Designer at Xelix, you'll take ownership of complex, ambiguous problems across the platform - shaping not just individual features but how we approach design decisions more broadly. You'll work closely with product and engineering leadership, mentor other designers, and help set the bar for craft and process across the team.

This role is for a designer who's shipped substantial product work independently, is comfortable driving ambiguity to clarity with little oversight, and wants to influence design practice beyond their own project work.

What you'll be doing

  • Design execution
  • Own end-to-end design for high-complexity or high-ambiguity problems, from framing through delivery.
  • Set the standard for usability, accessibility, and visual consistency, and hold others to it in critique.
  • Partner with engineers on implementation decisions, including tradeoffs between technical constraints and user experience.
  • Modern development practices
  • Stay current with agentic and AI-assisted development methods, and think proactively about how they change what's possible in product and design workflows.
  • Bring a point of view on how the roles of Design, Product and Engineering are evolving. How designers leverage AI tooling to shape our design process, prototyping speed, or the product itself - we want designers pushing the boundaries of how software gets built, not just designing around it.
  • Strategic input
  • Contribute to product strategy and roadmap conversations, not just execution against a defined brief.
  • Identify problems worth solving before they're handed to you - spot gaps, risks, and opportunities in the product.
  • Push back constructively on scope, priority, or approach when it serves the user or the product.
  • User research & insight
  • Lead research and usability testing efforts, including planning, running sessions, and synthesising findings into direction.
  • Build a strong point of view on user needs and use evidence to bring others along.
  • Collaboration & communication
  • Act as a trusted design partner to product and engineering leadership - not just an executor of requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops and drive alignment across teams, including in situations with competing priorities.
  • Communicate design rationale clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Design systems & consistency
  • Take ownership of specific areas of the design system, extending and evolving it as the product grows.
  • Set documentation standards and help other designers apply the system consistently.
  • Mentorship & team contribution
  • Mentor mid-level and junior designers, giving structured feedback and helping them grow.
  • Contribute to how the design team works - critique formats, processes, hiring, career frameworks.
  • Help raise the craft bar across the team through example, not just critique.

What you’ll bring

We care more about mindset and craft than ticking every box. If you meet most, but not all of the requirements below, we'd still love to hear from you.

  • Education & experience
  • 5+ years of experience in product design with a portfolio showing complex, high-quality product work shipped end-to-end.
  • Track record of driving projects independently from ambiguous problem to shipped solution.
  • Experience planning and leading research and usability testing, not just participating in it.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting the growth of other designers.
  • Technical skills
  • Comfort using or evaluating AI-assisted design and development tools as part of your workflow.
  • Deep proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma), including systems-level thinking about components and scalability.
  • Strong grasp of responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), and design systems architecture.
  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how design decisions play out in code.
  • Soft skills
  • Excellent communication skills, able to influence peers and leadership alike.
  • Strong comfort with ambiguity - able to bring structure to loosely defined problems.
  • Self-directed, with sound judgment on when to escalate versus decide.
  • Big plus points
  • Understanding of finance and accounting basics.
  • Experience in fast-moving environments (scale-up, start-up, or agency).
  • Experience contributing to team process, hiring, or career development frameworks.

We believe that people from diverse backgrounds, with different identities and experiences make our company and product better. No matter your background, we'd love to hear from you! And if you have a disability, please let us know if there's any way we can make the interview process better for you - we're happy to accommodate!

If you're a recruiting agency - we have an existing list of agencies we work with if required and we are not currently planning on expanding the list. Neither the Talent team nor hiring managers or the Support team will respond to cold outreach.

This is a full-time position, with standard working hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Interview Process While the exact process may vary slightly depending on the role, our typical interview stages are:

  • Introductory Call – A short Teams conversation with a Talent Partner to discuss your background and the opportunity.
  • Hiring Manager Interview – A 30–45 minute Teams meeting to explore your experience and fit for the team.
  • Technical Task or Presentation – A role-relevant exercise to demonstrate your skills and approach.
  • Final On-site Interview – An in-person meeting with our senior leadership team and co-founders at our office.

We strive to make the process clear, efficient, and respectful of your time.

We welcome the responsible use of AI for research and interview preparation, but ask that it isn't used to generate answers during live interviews. We also believe in being transparent - we use Metaview's AI note-taker during interviews so our interviewers can stay fully present. If you'd prefer us not to use it, just let your interviewer know. While you may need to answer eligibility questions as part of your application, we do not use AI to review or make decisions on applications - every application is reviewed fairly by a member of our Talent team.
