Full description

Airobotics is a leading company specializing in the development and manufacturing of autonomous drone systems. Its solutions combine hardware, software, and AI-driven technologies to support complex, large-scale operations. Airobotics works primarily with defense industries, including military and law enforcement agencies worldwide. The company is part of Ondas Holdings and operates as a wholly owned subsidiary.

We build the software platform behind autonomous drone operations: a cloud backend, a ground control application, and onboard software running on the drone's companion computer alongside the flight controller.

We are looking for a DevOps & Infrastructure Team Lead to own the platform that builds, ships, and runs this system, from cloud environments and CI/CD to the software images deployed on every drone and the networks that connect field sites to the cloud.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will lead a small team, set the technical direction for our infrastructure, and still spend a meaningful share of your time building.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DevOps and infrastructure engineers
  • Own the infrastructure roadmap and prioritize it against the needs of R&D, QA, and field operations
  • Own cloud environments (dev, staging, production), managed as code with Terraform, Kubernetes, and GitOps practices
  • Own the CI/CD platform and build runner fleet, and standardize build, versioning, and release pipelines across all repositories
  • Own the base OS image, provisioning, and over-the-air update process for the drone's onboard computer and ground units
  • Own device identity, secrets management, certificates, and access control across cloud, CI, and edge devices
  • Own connectivity between field sites and the cloud: firewalls, VPNs, cellular links, and network segmentation
  • Own monitoring, logging, and alerting across cloud, fleet, and CI, and define SLOs for platform services
  • Run on-call and incident response for the platform, and drive post-incident improvements
  • Manage cloud cost, capacity, and security posture

Requirements

  • 6+ years in DevOps, SRE, platform, or infrastructure engineering
  • 2+ years leading engineers as a team lead or tech lead
  • Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, and infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent)
  • Deep experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience owning CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Strong Linux systems background: networking, storage, boot, and packaging
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, Go, or similar)
  • Experience running production systems: on-call, incident response, monitoring, and SLOs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to set clear ownership boundaries with other teams

Nice To Have

  • Experience with embedded Linux, NVIDIA Jetson, Yocto, or custom OS image builds
  • Experience with fleet management or over-the-air updates for edge devices
  • Experience with site networking: enterprise firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, cellular and satellite links
  • Experience with on-premises or air-gapped deployments
  • Experience with security and compliance in regulated environments
  • Experience with robotics, drones, or autonomous systems
  • What Makes This Role Unique
  • Own the full platform from cloud to vehicle, with one team and one pipeline from commit to the field
  • Build infrastructure for systems that physically fly, where reliability means safe operations, not only uptime
  • Shape the infrastructure team's charter, boundaries, and tooling as the company defines them
