About us:

Argos is one of the UK’s most recognised retailers, helping customers get the products they need quickly, conveniently and with confidence. As we deliver against Transform to Win and our ambition for More Argos, More Often, our commercial technology plays a critical role in making it easier to grow our range, improve product data and support faster, better decisions. The systems and processes that underpin product set-up, enrichment and maintenance are central to that journey, enabling suppliers and colleagues to create, complete, maintain and trust the product information customers rely on. In an increasingly agentic world, where customers expect accurate answers, recommendations and journeys across every channel, the quality and completeness of our product data will be critical to the success of Argos. We are looking for a talented Senior Product Manager to join the team on a 12-month fixed-term basis and help accelerate this evolution through automation, AI-enabled ways of working and outcome-led product delivery.

The role:

As Senior Product Manager for product set-up and maintenance, you will lead business-critical capability that supports how Argos creates, enriches, maintains and brings products to market. You will set clear direction, shape an outcome-led roadmap and guide a cross-functional team through discovery, delivery and adoption, balancing near-term delivery with the longer-term evolution of product data, automation and AI-enabled ways of working across Argos. You will work closely with engineering, architecture and commercial business teams to align priorities, make informed trade-offs and ensure product set-up and maintenance capability delivers practical value for suppliers, colleagues, customers and the future growth of Argos.

More about the role:

  • You can lead product strategy and roadmap direction. You will set the vision and roadmap for product set-up and maintenance capability, aligning outcomes across product, engineering, architecture and commercial teams.
  • You build clear, outcome-led roadmaps and backlogs. You will translate strategy into specific roadmaps, 90-day plans and prioritised backlogs that improve end-to-end colleague and supplier experiences, increase the accuracy and completeness of product data, and deliver against agreed product metrics.
  • You own customer and business value. You will use insight, data and stakeholder input to make confident prioritisation decisions, secure support through the right governance and keep focus on the outcomes that matter most, including trusted product data that supports better customer journeys, search, recommendations and future agentic experiences.
  • You are accountable for end-to-end product delivery. You will ensure activity is prioritised in line with agreed goals and metrics, moving from discovery and decision-making through to launch, adoption and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on simplifying workflows, reducing manual touchpoints and embedding automation where it creates measurable value.
  • You communicate progress and manage risks proactively. You will maintain a realistic near-term roadmap and estimated full-year backlog, regularly sharing progress, surfacing risks and removing blockers before they slow delivery.
  • You collaborate across teams and partners. You will work closely with the core family team, other product teams, engineering, architecture, commercial stakeholders and third parties to launch features, maximise reuse across the business and explore how AI-enabled tools can improve quality, efficiency and speed to value.
  • You support live service and incident resolution. You will help coordinate, prioritise and communicate the resolution of production issues, ensuring users are supported and learning is built back into the roadmap to improve service resilience, data quality and operational effectiveness.

More about you:

  • Knowledge and understanding of a retail business and technology landscape, with the ability to maximise the value product set-up and maintenance capability can add for colleagues, suppliers, customers and Argos.
  • A clear understanding of agile delivery and modern engineering team practices, including how product, engineering, architecture and delivery teams work together to deliver change.
  • Knowledge of technical product development principles and methodologies, with enough technical curiosity to work through integrations, data flows, platforms and legacy dependencies.
  • Strong judgement to make sometimes difficult or complex decisions at pace, including confidence working through ambiguity and helping others move towards clarity.
  • A drive to seek value, focus on outcomes and help motivate and support technology teams to deliver practical improvements for users, including better product data quality, more complete product information and reduced manual effort.
  • An ability to creatively solve problems, with enthusiasm for delivering meaningful change through people, process, technology, automation and the thoughtful use of AI.
  • A high level of team contribution, actively seeking opportunities to provide input and support across the team and outside core areas of focus.
  • A collaborative approach, role modelling effective partnership across product, engineering, architecture, commercial business teams and third parties.

In return you will get:

  • Colleague discount across Sainsbury’s, Argos and Habitat.
  • Holiday allowance.
  • Bonus scheme.
  • Pension plan.
  • Special offers on gym memberships, restaurants, holidays, retail vouchers and more.
