Job Description

SUMMARY

We are hiring a Principal Software Engineer and Engineering Manager to be the crew lead for our Cloud and Devops crews.  This is a senior software engineering role and candidate will be responsible for engineering the base Cloud and DevOps solutions that everyone at Ares depends on.    The optimal candidate will be very strong technically with demonstrable experience leading software engineering teams.   Candidate must be a hands on software engineer with significant experience across Cloud and Devops at a large-scale enterprise.  Financial services experience is a must.   

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

• Agile Engineering Management across multiple crews. (~40+ engineers)
• Lead our Cloud and DevOps crews as we build a modern best practice environment for hosting all Ares applications.
• Curation of cloud services and creation of DevOps pipelines to make software engineering better for all Ares software engineers

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Must be a software engineer with 15+ years experience.
• Detailed experience with Kubernetes and Terraform
• Experience building and run large scale Devops environments. 
• Should have experience with and be comfortable using AI for any and all aspects of software engineering.
• Prior experience managing teams of at least 50, and experience managing teams over 100+ a bonus.
• Should be skilled in multiple programming languages.   Experience with tools like Kubernetes and terraform.  
• Multiple years working and deploying software in cloud.  (Azure experience a bonus)
• Optimal candidate will have generally been the most technical person in company in previous roles.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$250,000 - $300,000
