JOB SUMMARY:

The Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of PathGroup's in-house voice, data, video & wireless network services.  This is to be accomplished through analyzing, planning, designing and monitoring the local area networks and wide area networks.  In addition, is responsible for the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimization of all network hardware, software & communication links. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design and deploy company LANs, WANs and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, UPSs and other hardware.
  • Configure networks to ensure their smooth, reliable and optimal operation for fulfilling PathGroup objectives and processes.
  • Ensure upgrades of all network hardware and related software is performed timely.
  • Work to ensure Patient Health Information (PHI) is maintained in a secure manner.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Maintain network performance history and provide network performance statistics and reports.  Investigate & suggest applicable monitoring software.
  • Collaborate with executive management and others within the IT Department to assess current and long-term network capacity needs.
  • Create new and maintain current documentation as it relates to PathGroup's network configuration, network mapping processes and service records. 
  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, and other network appliances. 
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Participate in managing all network security solutions.
  • Participate in the on-call technical support rotation.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Establish and maintain VPN connections.
  • Maintain and manage Intrusion Protection System (IPS).
  • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
  • Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

Bachelor's degree in a related field required or applicable education and experience equivalent.

REQUIREMENTS:

Three to five years of hands-on networking experience required.

Cisco, Meraki experience preferred.

Understanding of the OSI model.

Understanding of network infrastructure and hardware.

Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.

Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including:

Wireless Access Points

Firewalls/VPNs

Routers

Switches
