Job Description
ROLE SUMMARY
The Android Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performance Android mobile applications that support the company's digital financial products and services. The role involves collaborating with Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, Backend Engineers, QA Engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional user experiences while ensuring regulatory compliance, security, and reliability in PayZeep
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, build and maintain features for the Payzeep Android application.
- Write clean, tested, maintainable Kotlin/Java code.
- Integrate with backend APIs and third-party payment/SDK services.
- Participate in code review, sprint planning and technical design discussions.
- Diagnose and fix production issues affecting the Android app.
- Implement security best practices for mobile payment applications.
- Implement secure integrations with banking systems, payment processors, wallets, and financial service providers.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
- Conduct code reviews and maintain coding standards within the engineering team.
- Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
- Optimize mobile applications for speed, reliability, and scalability.
- Implement mobile application security best practices, including encryption, secure storage, certificate pinning, and secure authentication mechanisms.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment of Android applications.
- Manage application releases through Google Play Store and enterprise distribution channels.
- Maintain version control and deployment processes.
- Work closely with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (required).
- Relevant Android certifications are an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Total Relevant Experience: 7+ years of Android application development experience.
Experience with Unit Testing, UI Testing, and Integration Testing.
Fintech / Financial Services Experience: 5+ years building mobile apps in fintech or a regulated environment preferred
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong Kotlin/Java and Android SDK proficiency
- Experience integrating REST/GraphQL APIs and payment SDKs
- Understanding of mobile security best practices (secure storage, certificate pinning)
- Familiarity with CI/CD for mobile release pipelines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to software quality
- Strong customer-centric mindset.
REGULATORY CONSIDERATIONS (NIGERIA)
- Implements mobile-application controls aligned with PCI-DSS mobile-payment requirements.
- Ensures app data handling and permissions comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
- Support compliance with applicable Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations governing digital payments and financial services.
