The Opportunity
As an SDWAN and Cybersecurity Sales Specialist in the technical‑sales team, you will serve as a technical advisor, helping translate customer requirements into high‑level solution concepts and designs. Reporting to the Head of Digital Solutions and Innovation, this individual‑contributor role has no direct reports and collaborates closely with sales and product teams.
The role follows Vocus’s hybrid working model (two days per week in the office) and involves occasional travel to customer sites. Some interstate and international travel may be required from time to time.
What you’ll be doing day-to-day
- Act as a passionate advocate for SDWAN, SASE and Cybersecurity solutions as they contribute to meeting a customers solution needs. Act as a consulting advisory resource to the sales team and own the design of tailored solutions that address customer requirements and integrate with their existing environments, ensuring feasibility and scalability.
- Own product demonstrations, technical presentations, and proof-of-concepts that clearly showcase solution value and capabilities to secure the technical win.
- Own discovery and requirements gathering to deeply understand customer business needs, technical constraints, and objectives.
- Own the design of tailored solutions that address customer requirements and integrate with their existing environments, ensuring feasibility and scalability.
- Lead and coordinate the technical response for complex sales opportunities, collaborating with sales, product, and delivery teams to develop compelling proposals and RFP responses.
- Own and support the preparation of detailed solution documentation and effective handover to delivery teams, ensuring all technical details are accurately captured for implementation.
- Own multiple concurrent sales opportunities, prioritising tasks and managing time effectively to provide high-quality technical support throughout all pursuits.
- Deepen expertise in the full product portfolio, industry trends, and competitor offerings to effectively advise customers and internal teams on solution options.
- Own technical due diligence and third-party engagements (e.g., vendors, partners) to validate solution feasibility and obtain approvals for any non-standard components.
- Meet individual sales overlay targets.
- Continually strive to meet sales objectives and targets.
What you’ll bring to this role
- Australian citizen able to get the NV1 clearance if needed
- Minimum 3+ years’ technical product pre‑sales experience
- Fortinet SD-WAN and SASE sales skills: Proficient
- Fortinet SD-WAN and SASE technical skills: Proficient
- Cybersecurity sales skills: Proficient
- Discovery & requirements capture (use‑cases, success criteria): Proficient
- Solution design & architectures (HLD/LLD, BoM/SoW): Proficient
- Workshops, demos & PoCs facilitation: Proficient
- Documenting assumptions, dependencies & risks: Proficient
- Creating customer-facing presentations and proposals: Proficient
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
