Strategic Focus of the Role

The Sales Engineer - Spain will drive profitable growth across Spain by developing both existing and new customers in Industrial and Infrastructure markets. The main focus is on large industrial end users, industrial contractors and OEMs, combining project and product sales with active customer development, new opportunity creation and growth of the existing installed base. The role also works with representatives, distributors and channel partners to extend market coverage, particularly within Infrastructure, with additional responsibility for selected opportunities in Portugal.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a growth plan for Spain, with selected customer and opportunity coverage in Portugal.
  • Win new project opportunities and grow product business across key industrial segments, including oil & gas, refining, chemicals, petrochemicals, renewable, energy transition, pharmaceuticals and other process industries.
  • Develop new customers and increase Chemelex’s share of wallet at large industrial accounts.
  • Build strong relationships with end users, OEMs, partners, distributors, contractors, and key technical and commercial decision-makers.
  • Develop a strategic plan with local partners/channels/distributors to penetrate the local market efficiently and successfully
  • Position Chemelex early in the project lifecycle to influence specifications, create preference, and become the partner of choice.
  • Increase market share by targeting competitor accounts, regional white spots, and untapped customer potential by focusing on existing customers while seeking new accounts and new opportunities.
  • Drive Life Cycle Services, including plant audits, inspections, upgrades, maintenance support, and annual service contracts. Understand client’s infrastructure and linked contractors for gaining a full picture of engagement.
  • Manage strategic account plans with clear actions to grow applications, increase customer penetration, and unlock cross-selling and upselling opportunities.

Promote advanced technologies, controls, monitoring, digital solutions, services, and new products.

  • Ensure pricing agreements, commercial frameworks, and value-based proposals support project wins and product pull-through.
  • Deliver customer seminars, technical trainings, lunch & learns, and workshops to create demand and strengthen Chemelex’s visibility.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market developments, and regional threats, and define action plans to grow and defend Chemelex’s position.
  • Maintain accurate opportunities, account plans, forecasts, and activities in Salesforce.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another relevant technical discipline, or equivalent through professional experience.
  • Relevant B2B sales experience in industrial or technical markets, with a proven ability to develop end users, contractors, OEMs and new business.
  • Good knowledge of the Spanish market, customer landscape and key industrial and infrastructure regions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent Spanish and professionally proficient English.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRM systems such as Salesforce.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel frequently throughout Spain.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of electrical heat tracing, E&I, instrumentation or low-voltage power distribution.
  • Experience in refining, oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, utilities, infrastructure or related technical markets.
  • Experience developing business through representatives, distributors or channel partners; Portuguese language skills are an advantage.

Working Conditions:

Home-based field-sales position in Spain with frequent travel to customers and industrial sites across Spain, plus periodic travel to key industrial zones in Portugal.
