About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of the Finance team, providing expert financial analysis, reporting, budgeting and forecasting support to drive informed decision-making across Austin Health. The role acts as the deputy to the Manager FP&A and plays a leading role in finance transformation, continuous improvement and the enhancement of financial systems, reporting tools and analytical capabilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys combining financial analysis with systems, data and business improvement initiatives. You will work closely with Finance Business Partners, operational leaders and senior stakeholders to enhance financial reporting, planning processes and organisational performance.

A regular day will see you:   

• Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly financial reporting and management reporting packs

• Coordinate end-to-end budgeting and forecasting processes across the organisation

• Provide high-quality financial analysis, insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making

• Act as the 2IC to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis and provide leadership across the FP&A function

• Lead the development, enhancement and maintenance of Power BI dashboards, reporting solutions and self-service analytics

• Develop and maintain Power BI datasets, data models and reporting frameworks to support organisational reporting needs

• Partner with Finance Business Partners and operational leaders to improve financial and operational performance reporting

• Support the implementation, optimisation and ongoing administration of Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM)

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and planning processes

• Identify opportunities for automation, improved data governance and greater reporting efficiency

• Support development of long-term financial planning models and organisational financial strategies

• Provide expert support and training to stakeholders in budgeting, forecasting and reporting systems including Oracle EPM and Power BI.

About you

You are a commercially minded and collaborative finance professional who enjoys solving complex problems and improving how finance supports the organisation. You have strong analytical capability, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for continuous improvement, reporting and business intelligence.

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

• CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent)

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, business, economics, finance or a related discipline

• Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting

• Strong Power BI experience, including dashboard development, data modelling and reporting frameworks

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX and analytical modelling

• Well-developed stakeholder engagement, communication and business partnering skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to identify trends, risks and opportunities

• Demonstrated experience providing financial management advice and support to stakeholders

• Experience leading process improvement, systems enhancement or finance transformation initiatives

• A proactive approach and ability to develop innovative solutions to complex business challenges.

You’ll further bring with you:

• Experience within healthcare, government or other complex organisations

• Experience with Oracle Fusion and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM)

• Experience developing or supporting enterprise planning, budgeting and forecasting systems

• Understanding of Department of Health funding models, financial reporting requirements or healthcare finance frameworks

• Experience developing costing models and financial planning tools.
