Full description

Our client is seeking an Officer – Financial Analysis to join its Regulatory Supervision function.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and assessing the financial position of regulated entities, identifying potential financial risks and supporting the ongoing supervision of their financial stability and regulatory obligations.

The role involves detailed analysis of financial statements and other financial information, regular interaction with regulated entities and relevant stakeholders, and the preparation of recommendations and reports for management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyse audited financial statements and other financial information submitted by regulated entities.
  • Assess the financial health and sustainability of regulated entities, considering factors such as liquidity, capital structure, forecasts and available financial support.
  • Identify potential financial risks or concerns and escalate significant matters to management where appropriate.
  • Liaise with regulated entities, authorised representatives, auditors and other relevant stakeholders regarding financial information and identified issues.
  • Monitor entities experiencing financial difficulties and assess whether appropriate measures or recovery plans are in place.
  • Prepare clear recommendations to management regarding financial suitability, sustainability and identified risks.
  • Conduct further investigation and ongoing monitoring where concerns relating to an entity's financial standing are identified.
  • Develop and maintain controls, processes and procedures aimed at identifying and mitigating risks arising from financial information.
  • Produce accurate and timely reports, analyses and recommendations for management and other internal functions.
  • Provide financial analysis and input to other teams when assessing regulated entities.
  • Support the wider Regulatory Supervision function with compliance reviews, audits, data analysis and related supervisory activities.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal policies, procedures and processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments and functions where required.
  • Maintain high professional, regulatory and confidentiality standards at all times.
  • Undertake other related responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or a related discipline (MQF Level 6 or equivalent). Candidates with lower formal qualifications may also be considered where supported by relevant professional experience.
  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and identify potential areas of risk.
  • Excellent command of English, with strong written communication and report-writing capabilities.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Previous experience within audit would be considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the Malta gaming regulatory environment and/or previous experience within the gaming industry would be an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and appropriately report sensitive or material issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while working effectively within a team.
  • Comfortable working to demanding deadlines in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Commercially aware, analytical and capable of approaching matters from a strategic perspective.
  • Proactive, highly motivated and willing to take ownership of responsibilities and follow matters through to completion.
