Purpose of the role
Pico is currently seeking candidates for our Database Administrator opening. Qualified candidates must be proficient with Microsoft SQL Server and it’s supporting eco system. Candidates are expected to be competent in Microsoft Windows Server, Powershell and will be required to perform basic Windows and SQL software management without assistance. Highly qualified candidates will have a working knowledge of multiple DBMS platforms and will be expected to demonstrate a knowledge of at least one other DBMS platform. Experience with Linux, Hardware selection and sizing, Cloud technologies, Change Control management and automation are a plus.
Responsibilities and duties
Database:
- Deploy database platforms in a repeatable manner through scripting and automation
- Manage and maintain database platforms for Pico and our clients
- Maintain, administer, troubleshoot, install, and configure database systems
- Implement database security best practices
- Performance optimization of databases and the supporting ecosystem
- Performance tuning of SQL and TSQL statement/procedures
- Provide criteria, requirements, and solutions for database monitoring within the framework of Pico’s existing monitoring systems
- Assist with the certification, upgrading and patching of all database products
- Support existing DB processes and procedures autonomously
DevOps:
- Automation of operational tasks
- Automated custom report generation for proprietary systems
Requirements:
Required Database Experience/Knowledge:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- 2025, 2022 and 2019
- Geo-clustering, AlwaysOn Availability, & Replication, CDC
- Must have Microsoft Windows Server management skills
- Must be familiar with using Powershell
- Design for optimised queries
- Database encryption
- Database object modelling
- Database High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
- TSQL coding
Additional Database Experience (At Least One):
- MongoDB
- MySQL (Innodb a plus)
- PostgreSQL

Working Arrangements:
This position is based out of Singapore/India. Though travel may be required from time to time, it is not expected to be regular or frequent. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions / geographies including EMEA and AMRS). This will include scheduled weekend work.
