YOUR MISSION
- Design, engineer, and operate highly available database platforms, including MS SQL Server, MariaDB, and Oracle
- Own the architecture, performance, security, and lifecycle management of critical database solutions
- Lead technical initiatives and modernization projects, ensuring delivery on quality, timelines, and business objectives
- Drive database excellence through performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, and continuous optimization
- Advise stakeholders on architecture, security, operational stability, and best practices across the data platform landscape
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Operations, and Enterprise Architecture teams
- Support the evolution of modern integration and event-streaming capabilities, including technologies such as Kafka
- Contribute to the reliability and availability of core platforms through on-call participation and close collaboration with external service providers
YOUR EXPERIENCE & TALENTS
MUST HAVE
- Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, including the operation and further development of enterprise database environments
- Solid knowledge of high-availability architectures (AlwaysOn), performance optimization, security, upgrades, and disaster recovery
- Experience using T-SQL and PowerShell to automate and manage database operations
- Practical exposure to Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments
- Good understanding of database architecture, monitoring, and operations within business-critical platforms
- Very good German skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience working with MariaDB and/or Oracle in enterprise environments
- Exposure to Kafka, event streaming, or integration platforms, with the willingness to support integration-related topics alongside database operations
- Familiarity with IBM webMethods ESB or similar middleware and integration technologies
