Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer with a strong background in security engineering, cloud security, threat detection, and security automation. In this role, you will design, implement, and continuously enhance cybersecurity controls that protect Phenom's applications, infrastructure, and data. You'll collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to build scalable security solutions, automate response processes, and defend against evolving cyber threats.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and enhance cybersecurity protection, detection, and response capabilities across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Build, automate, and optimize security controls using threat intelligence and emerging attack patterns.
- Develop detection logic, security use cases, and automated response workflows for enterprise security platforms.
- Troubleshoot security incidents and production issues through log analysis, forensic investigation, and root cause analysis.
- Create security playbooks, runbooks, technical documentation, and deployment architecture diagrams.
- Design security solutions that reduce detection and remediation time while improving operational efficiency.
- Implement and maintain security controls aligned with Phenom's cybersecurity architecture and industry best practices.
- Support application, infrastructure, and cloud security initiatives across AWS environments.
- Evaluate emerging cybersecurity technologies through proof of concepts and recommend adoption where appropriate.
- Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to assess security requirements and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Stay current with evolving threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends to continuously strengthen Phenom's security posture.
What You've Done
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Cyber Security Engineering or a similar security-focused role.
- Strong experience with enterprise security technologies such as WAF, IDS/IPS, EDR, DLP, authentication systems, and content filtering.
- Experience developing detection logic, SIEM use cases, and responding to security events using logs, alerts, and telemetry.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Java, Bash, or PowerShell for security automation and integrations.
- Experience building security playbooks, runbooks, and operational documentation.
- Solid understanding of AWS security services, cloud security best practices, and associated security challenges.
- Knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, and SaaS platform security.
- Familiarity with industry security frameworks and compliance standards such as NIST, ISO 27001/27002/27017/27018, and GDPR.
- Security certifications such as CISSP, SANS GSEC, or equivalent (or actively pursuing one) are a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
