Mer Group is seeking a highly technical Data Center Sales Engineer to support the design and delivery of advanced data center and critical infrastructure solutions.

This role combines deep engineering expertise with customer engagement, focusing on designing scalable, resilient, and efficient data center environments for Telecom, government, and enterprise clients.

The position plays a key role in developing end-to-end solutions, from initial requirements through detailed technical design, ensuring alignment with customer needs and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and architecture of data center solutions across multiple domains
  • Translate customer requirements into comprehensive technical designs, including:
  • White space planning (layouts, racks, containment)
  • Power infrastructure (UPS, generators, distribution, redundancy models)
  • Cooling systems (precision cooling, in-row, high-density solutions)
  • Structured cabling systems (copper and fiber)
  • Develop and deliver High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD)
  • Conduct site surveys, technical assessments, and feasibility studies
  • Support the sales process with deep technical expertise, including customer meetings and solution presentations
  • Own the technical components of RFP/RFI responses, including architecture, compliance, and Bill of Quantities (BoQ)
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, project delivery teams, and external vendors
  • Ensure solutions comply with industry standards (TIA, Uptime Institute, ISO)
  • Perform capacity planning, redundancy design (N+1, 2N), and scalability analysis
  • Support costing and vendor selection, validating technical aspects of proposals
  • Stay current with emerging trends such as modular data centers, edge deployments, and AI-ready infrastructure

Work Environment

  • Hybrid role combining engineering work and customer-facing activities
  • Engagement with Telecom, enterprise, and government clients
  • Occasional travel to customer sites and project locations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data center design, engineering, or technical pre-sales
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of:
  • Electrical systems (UPS, generators, power distribution)
  • Cooling and thermal management systems
  • Data center layouts and infrastructure planning
  • tructured cabling systems
  • center infrastructure (racks, power, cooling)
  • Networking (LAN/WAN, switching, routing)
  • Servers, virtualization, and storage systems
  • Experience with Edge, enterprise, or hyperscale data center environments
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Experience creating technical ation, drawings, and specifications
  • Ability to engage directly with customers on complex technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in large-scale or mission-critical infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with modular / prefabricated data center solutions
  • Experience with leading vendors (e.g., Schneider Electric, Huawei, Vertiv, Dell, HPE)
  • Knowledge of DCIM tools and monitoring systems
  • Certifications such as TIA, CDCP/CDCS, Uptime, or equivalent
