Full description
Who we're looking for
We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Platform Architect with a proven track record of owning the architecture, integrity and technical direction of large-scale Salesforce implementations within global financial services organisations. The ideal candidate combines deep technical mastery of the Salesforce platform with the breadth to think holistically across technology, data and operating model. They will have high standards, an eye for detail, a continuous improvement mindset, and the judgement and credibility to influence senior stakeholders across both business and technology.
You will define and own the target-state architecture for the Salesforce ecosystem, set the technical principles and guardrails that engineering teams build within, and make the trade-offs needed to keep the platform scalable, secure, maintainable and cost-effective. A strong understanding of the financial services industry is essential. You should be comfortable operating from pre-programme mobilisation through to production, shaping solution direction on complex change while safeguarding the long-term coherence of the platform.

Technology at Schroders
There's a huge amount of change happening at Schroders. Technology is shaping our business more and more, creating numerous opportunities. As a significant financial player, we can put substantial backing behind good ideas. While we have enormous responsibilities to our clients and shareholders, our tech teams are friendlier and more informal than you might expect.
The base
We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre, and we have everything we need to work flexibly.
The team
The Asset Management Platforms department at Schroders is a global technology change delivery function that oversees and executes all technology delivery within the organisation. The Client Engagement team sits within Client Technology and is responsible for all platforms associated with the provision of client relationship management, with a strong emphasis on the Salesforce ecosystem (including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Financial Services Cloud). The core team is responsible for understanding business needs, solving complex problems, mobilising and delivering large change programmes, and maintaining the integrity of the Salesforce platform and associated capabilities.
What you'll do
- Own and evolve the end-to-end target-state architecture for the Salesforce platform across both our Public and Private businesses, balancing business value, scalability, security, maintainability and total cost of ownership.
- Define and champion the architectural principles, patterns, standards and guardrails that engineering teams design and build within, ensuring solution coherence across a multi-team, multi-workstream portfolio.
- Lead solution design for complex and early-stage (pre-project) initiatives, translating ambiguous business problems into robust, well-reasoned architectural direction with clear options and trade-offs.
- Own the integration architecture connecting Salesforce with upstream and downstream platforms (APIs, event-driven patterns, middleware such as MuleSoft, ETL and data platforms) to enable joined-up client journeys and high-quality, trusted data.
- Govern platform integrity—data model, security model, governor limits, org strategy, technical debt and release management—ensuring the platform remains performant, secure and sustainable as it scales.
- Provide architectural assurance across delivery teams through design reviews, technical governance forums and alignment to AMP enterprise architecture and Global Technology lifecycle standards.
- Take a holistic view of the target state, recognising that the outcome will often include changes to the business operating model and data architecture alongside the technology platform.
- Drive DevOps and CI/CD maturity from an architectural standpoint—branching strategy, environment and sandbox strategy, automated testing and release management—to accelerate delivery and reduce risk.
- Harness emerging AI capabilities—including Salesforce Einstein and Agentforce—to enhance productivity, decision-making and client engagement, guiding practical use cases from concept to a well-architected implementation.
- Ensure architecture reflects the regulatory and compliance context of asset management (for example, data privacy, client communications and marketing compliance).
- Mentor and coach engineers and analysts, lead by example on technical craftsmanship, and raise the architectural capability of the wider team.
- Collaborate with and contribute to relevant AMP architecture and delivery communities of practice, helping to define good practice and improve standards and ways of working.
- Work closely with the Client Platform Architect to ensure the Salesforce target state aligns with the wider Client Technology architecture and enterprise architecture direction.
