Job DetailsJob Location: Ramco Specialties Inc - Hudson, OH 44236Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeSalary Range: $135,000.00 - $145,000.00 Salary/yearPOSITION OBJECTIVE The Engineering Manager leads and coordinates product engineering and manufacturing engineering activities in support of customer requirements, new-product development, manufacturing performance, quality, cost, delivery, and continuous improvement. This position combines hands-on technical leadership with effective people management. The Engineering Manager is accountable for setting clear priorities, developing engineering talent, maintaining disciplined engineering processes, coordinating cross-functional execution, and ensuring engineering work is accurate, timely, manufacturable, and aligned with business needs. REPORTING STRUCTURE & ORGANIZATIONAL SCOPE The Engineering Manager reports to the Director of Engineering & Quality and provides day-to-day leadership and direction to assigned product and manufacturing engineering resources. The role works closely with Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Sales, Program Management, customers, suppliers, contractors, and outside technical resources as required. Product and manufacturing engineering activities Engineering support for new-product launches Manufacturing-process development and improvement Engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation Engineering work prioritization and resource allocation Development and performance management of engineering personnel Coordination of contractors and external technical resources Cross-functional execution of engineering projects ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Engineering Leadership Plan, direct, prioritize, and coordinate product and manufacturing engineering activities. Translate company, customer, and operational priorities into clear engineering assignments and deliverables. Establish project expectations, responsibilities, schedules, and completion criteria. Review engineering work for technical accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable requirements. Escalate engineering risks that could affect safety, quality, customer commitments, cost, capacity, or launch timing. Lead development and implementation of improved products, processes, tooling concepts, and manufacturing methods. People Management and Talent Development Provide clear, concise, and actionable direction to engineering personnel. Coach engineers through technical decisions, problem-solving, project execution, and cross-functional communication. Participate in selecting, onboarding, developing, and retaining qualified engineering personnel. Build a collaborative team that demonstrates accountability, urgency, sound judgment, and professional conduct. New-Product and Process Execution Manage engineering deliverables for new-product and manufacturing-process development. Support feasibility reviews, drawing and specification reviews, process planning, tooling and equipment requirements, and launch-readiness activities. Identify engineering risks early and establish mitigation plans, owners, and due dates. Coordinate with Quality and Operations to define process controls, technical documentation, and manufacturing requirements before production release. Support product and process validation and resolve technical issues affecting launch timing or performance. Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Provide engineering support for throughput, scrap reduction, quality improvement, capacity, equipment utilization, process capability, and productivity. Lead structured technical problem-solving for recurring or significant manufacturing issues. Promote practical, data-driven improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity. Ensure engineering changes are reviewed, documented, communicated, and implemented in a controlled manner. Maintain regular engagement with manufacturing-floor activities. Cross-Functional and Customer Support Coordinate Engineering activities with other managers and internal functions. Communicate technical issues, risks, decisions, and recommendations clearly to leadership and affected stakeholders. Support customer and supplier technical discussions when engineering input is required. QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Engineering foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or a combination of education and directly relevant engineering experience sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position. Relevant engineering experience: Seven years of product engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or closely related experience in a manufacturing environment. Fasteners experience is preferred. People-leadership experience: Three years or more of demonstrated experience directing, supervising, coaching, or developing engineering or other technical professionals. Technical manufacturing capability: Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications and apply mechanical and manufacturing principles to products, processes, tooling, equipment, and production problems. Execution and problem-solving discipline: Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple technical projects, make sound decisions using available data, communicate risks clearly, and drive work to documented completion. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in automotive, fastener, metal-forming, machining, or a comparable high-volume manufacturing environment. Experience with new-product launches and manufacturing-process development. Experience with customer-specific, quality-system, or production-part-approval requirements. Experience with engineering change control and technical-document management. Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or comparable CAD software. Working knowledge of statistical methods, Lean manufacturing, structured problem-solving, and continuous-improvement practices. Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers, tooling providers, or equipment manufacturers. Experience presenting technical recommendations to senior leadership, customers, or cross-functional teams.
