You will join a distributed team building and modernizing backend platforms with Java, Spring Boot and microservices. Communication with the client is in English.

We're looking for a hands-on backend engineer who delivers production features end to end in a Java microservices environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain backend services with Java and Spring Boot
  • Develop REST APIs and event-driven integrations with Kafka
  • Write clean, tested code and take part in code reviews
  • Work with architects and product owners to break down requirements and estimate work
  • Support production issues and improve performance and reliability

Must haves

  • 6+ years of professional backend development with Java (Java 11+; strong in Java 8+ features such as streams and lambdas)
  • Solid Core Java: OOP, design patterns, collections, multithreading and concurrency
  • Production experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture
  • REST API design and integration
  • Relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL, Oracle or similar)
  • Event streaming or messaging with Kafka or similar
  • Git, CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins) and Docker
  • Unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito)
  • Fluent English for daily work with the client
  • Based in Spain or Poland with the right to work there

Nice to haves

  • Experience in banking, payments or other financial services
  • AWS (or another major cloud provider)
  • Kubernetes
  • Hibernate / JPA
  • Frontend exposure with React or Angular
  • Experience on consulting or client-facing projects
