Functional Responsibility Leads and manages telecommunications, low‑voltage, and physical infrastructure build‑out projects supporting the Department of Transportation Headquarters and associated field locations. Oversees planning, coordination, and execution of structured cabling, fiber optic installation, MDF/IDF build‑outs, wireless access point installation, audiovisual systems, physical access control systems, and related hardware deployment.
Provides project leadership for office build‑outs, site expansions, relocations, and modernization efforts, ensuring all wiring, terminations, equipment mounting, rack installation, and power requirements meet Federal and industry standards.
Coordinates closely with Federal stakeholders, engineering staff, cabling crews, electricians, hardware installers, and subcontractors to ensure all physical installation activities are properly scheduled, documented, inspected, and completed safely.
Supports site surveys, cable pathway design, conduit planning, rack elevation planning, material planning, electrical load considerations, and field execution. Ensures compliance with structured cabling standards, low‑voltage requirements, physical installation specifications, and contract deliverables.
Maintains accurate project documentation, inventory accountability, and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle while serving as the primary interface between Program Management, Federal customers, installation teams, and engineering personnel.
Minimum Education / General Experience / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience managing telecom, cabling, low‑voltage, or physical infrastructure implementation projects.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Registered Telecommunications Project Manager (RTPM), or ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of structured cabling standards, fiber installation practices, rack/stack procedures, electrical safety fundamentals, and physical infrastructure deployments is desirable.
