Full description

The Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting financial and management reporting in a project-based environment. This position is well-suited to a candidate with a combination of construction industry and corporate office financial experience and will have an in depth understanding of the ERP system and its interdependencies between modules. This role involves handling day-to-day financial analysis and accounting activities, analyzing project results, preparing reconciliations and financial reports, completing month end close processes and ensuring compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, tax regulations and accounting standards. The position plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Extract, analyze, and validate financial and operational data from the ERP systems and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on Oracle accounting modules.
  • Analyze project costs and overruns, work in progress schedules and project profitability.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation between the financial cost ledger and Project Controls cost reports, investigating and resolving variances to ensure the accuracy and consistency of project financial information.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis and reports, including variance analysis and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and project profitability analysis.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process and complete variance analysis of company results against budget.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to management and project teams as required.
  • Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and required documentation.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of financial reporting and analysis processes.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations and support month-end/ year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies and internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of progressive financial analysis or accounting experience, ideally with a combination of experience in a large construction or project-based environment as well as a corporate office setting.
  • Proficiency with Oracle or other large ERP solutions is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial reporting, reconciliations, accruals, and management reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis (pivot tables, macros an asset)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
