Java R&D Software Engineer - Leuven

Summary

We are looking for a passionate Java Software Engineer with a strong interest in software security and low-level software engineering to join our R&D team in Leuven, working on our Java based products, such as ProGuard and DexGuard.

Our technology processes and transforms Java and Android applications using techniques such as bytecode analysis, obfuscation, optimization, encryption, and code hardening to make applications smaller, faster, and more resilient against reverse engineering and tampering.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical problems, working with challenging codebases, and experimenting with new ideas. You’ll have the opportunity to research new optimization and code hardening techniques and turn promising concepts into production-ready solutions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve our Java-based technology, including ProGuard and DexGuard.

• Research, test, and implement new code hardening techniques.

• Work with Java bytecode, obfuscation, encryption, and application processing.

• Continuously improve code quality through extensive testing.

• Stay up-to-date with reverse engineering and software security practices.

• Support customers with complex technical questions related to our software.

Profile

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Ideally 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar software engineering role.

• Excellent Java & Kotlin skills.

• Experience working with complex codebases.

• Interest in low-level programming, debugging, and software security.

Useful Skills

• Knowledge of compiler technology, Java bytecode, or complex application processing.

• Knowledge of obfuscation, optimization, or software protection techniques.

• Experience with reverse engineering and related tools.

• Familiarity with Android, Gradle, or ProGuard.

• Knowledge of information or application security.
