About Jeppesen ForeFlight

Jeppesen ForeFlight brings together decades of Jeppesen's aeronautical data expertise with ForeFlight's award-winning flight planning and navigation platform. Our software supports pilots, airlines, and flight departments around the world, delivering mission-critical tools for safe and efficient flight operations. As we continue to grow our presence in Europe, we're building out our Poland-based team and are looking for experienced engineering leadership to help guide that growth.

About the Role

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers in Denmark. You'll be responsible for the technical direction, delivery, and health of your team, while growing and developing the engineers on it. You'll partner closely with product management, design, and other engineering leaders to deliver reliable, high-quality software that pilots and flight operations teams depend on.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, providing regular feedback, career development, and performance guidance.
  • Own the delivery of your team's roadmap, balancing feature development, quality, and technical debt.
  • Partner with product management and design to shape priorities and translate them into achievable engineering plans.
  • Set and uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing, architecture, and operational excellence.
  • Participate in technical decision-making and architectural discussions, staying close enough to the codebase to guide the team effectively.
  • Drive hiring and onboarding to help scale the team as Jeppesen ForeFlight grows its Denmark presence.
  • Foster a healthy, inclusive team culture and collaborative working environment.
  • Manage project risks, dependencies, and cross-team coordination to ensure predictable delivery.
  • Report on team progress, health, and priorities to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years directly managing engineers.
  • A track record of leading teams that consistently deliver high-quality software on schedule.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to engage credibly in architecture and design discussions.
  • Experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineers at different levels of seniority.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and design.
  • Sound judgment in balancing technical excellence, delivery timelines, and team wellbeing.
  • Experience with modern software development practices, including CI/CD, code review, and automated testing.
  • Based in Denmark or willing to work from our Denmark location, with authorization to work in the EU.

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing teams in aviation, geospatial, or other safety-critical, data-intensive domains.
  • Experience leading distributed teams across multiple time zones, particularly spanning Europe and the US.
  • Background in front-end, backend, or full-stack engineering prior to moving into management.
  • Familiarity with scaling engineering teams and processes during periods of growth.
  • Interest in aviation or flight operations.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • The chance to lead a team building software that supports pilots and flight operations globally.
  • A collaborative, international team spanning Europe and the US.
  • Flexible working arrangements and a strong culture of continuous learning.
  • Opportunities for professional growth within a growing European engineering organization.
