About this Role
We are seeking an experienced Public Cloud DevOps Engineer with strong AWS expertise to design, build, implement and operate business-critical cloud infrastructure services supporting Vodafone's internal applications and customers across Europe. This role focuses on developing cloud-native solutions, driving infrastructure automation, enabling cloud transformation initiatives, and ensuring high availability and operational excellence across AWS environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in cloud adoption, optimisation, platform engineering, and DevOps culture enablement.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, implement and operate AWS-based cloud infrastructure services for business-critical applications.
- Manage project-driven cloud solution integrations and daily platform administration activities.
- Develop prototypes, modules and cloud platform solutions using Agile delivery practices.
- Maintain, enhance and optimise cloud services to deliver positive business outcomes.
- Conduct peer reviews and promote engineering best practices and coding standards.
- Drive cloud automation and workload integration activities across AWS environments.
- Support cloud cost optimisation initiatives and FinOps practices.
- Design and deploy direct connectivity between AWS and on-premise data centres.
- Troubleshoot cloud networking, storage, performance and platform-related issues.
- Support incident and problem management activities, including Level 2 and Level 3 operational support
- Contribute to the adoption and growth of DevOps methodologies and cloud engineering capabilities across the organisation.
- Share knowledge and help strengthen AWS expertise within teams.
Who you are
- Experience working with AWS cloud services including VPC, EC2, EKS, S3, EBS, Glacier, ELB and Elastic IPs.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking, security and platform engineering principles.
- Experience with infrastructure automation using CloudFormation, Ansible and Python.
- Working knowledge of DevOps tools and technologies such as Terraform, Kubernetes and ArgoCD.
- Experience managing AWS Organisations and multi-account environments.
- Familiarity with JSON, YAML and Python scripting.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation and communication skills.
- Understanding of ITIL processes, SOX compliance and security regulations.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Experience supporting highly business-critical environments.
- Degree qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline.
- AWS certification at Associate level or higher is advantageous.
- Experience within telecommunications environments is beneficial.
