What You Will Be Doing:
The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for providing operational and application database services to the organization. Primary responsibilities include owning, tracking, and resolving database-related incidents and requests; monitoring and maintaining database health through backups, maintenance jobs, and index management; and supporting performance and security requirements.
This role involves daily monitoring to identify and address service-related issues, responding to database alerts and escalations, and collaborating with management and other teams on solutions to recurring problems. The DBA role requires a service-oriented mentality and a high sense of ownership. The DBA is expected to continually look for areas of improvement in projects, products, and processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and accuracy. Self-direction and the ability to manage and allocate your time across multiple simultaneous projects are keys for success.
Responsibilities:
- Design, create, and maintain database objects including indexes, views, stored procedures, tables, and other schema elements in on-premise and cloud environments.
- Monitor and maintain database health by reviewing and responding to backup status, maintenance jobs, index health, and daily operational alerts.
- Perform database user and security management: create logins and users, manage roles and access privileges, and support compliance requirements.
- Plan, implement, and maintain backup, restore, and recovery procedures; verify backup success and support restore testing.
- Participate in investigation and resolution of database incidents including blocking, deadlocks, and performance degradation.
- Optimize existing queries and procedures; develop efficient T-SQL using execution plans, system views, and indexing best practices.
- Refresh development and test environment databases on a regular basis to support QA and development teams.
- Assist in building and maintaining database monitoring infrastructure for alerting, performance data collection, and operational visibility.
- Support implementation of database changes and code deployments; work with the Architecture team on coding standards for stored procedures, triggers, and schema design.
- Perform feasibility studies and effort estimates for new or revised database systems to address business needs.
- Install, upgrade, and maintain database instances required for development, testing, and production usage.
- General technical troubleshooting and consultation with Quality Assurance, Application Development, and Infrastructure teams.
- Work with multiple departments including Architecture, Quality Assurance, Application Development, and Infrastructure to implement and maintain database code and configurations.
You’ve Got What It Takes If You Have:
- 3+ years of database administration, development, or equivalent experience
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or higher
- Strong T-SQL skills including complex queries, stored procedures, transaction management, error handling, and dynamic SQL
- Understanding of execution plans and query optimization techniques
- Working knowledge of database backup, recovery, and HADR concepts
- Familiarity with cloud database services in Azure such as Azure SQL MI, Azure SQL DB, or Azure SQL on VMs
- Experience with database security administration such as user management, role assignment, and access controls
- Ability to build and maintain SQL scripts, indexes, and complex queries for data analysis and operational use
- Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices for OLTP environments
- Proven analytical ability and attention to detail in a production environment
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with development teams in a dynamic environment
- Commitment to quality and accuracy
Nice To Have:
- Experience with PowerShell for scripting and operational automation
- Familiarity with database monitoring and dashboard tools such as SSMS, Grafana, or similar platforms
- Experience with SSIS or other ETL tooling
- Experience with SSRS or other managed reporting platforms
- Familiarity with Git or other version control processes
- Familiarity with other database platforms such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
- Familiarity with SOC 2, FINRA, or other regulated industry compliance requirement
- B.E. or B.S. Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field; related work experience can be substituted for education requirement

Pay Transparency:
The compensation range for this position is $85,000-$120,000.
RegEd takes a market-based approach to pay. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired close to or at the maximum of the salary range. Your actual pay at RegEd is based on your unique background, pertinent experience, work location and qualifications. Base pay also depends on the relative experience, knowledge and skills to our internal peers in the role. In addition to competitive base pay and bonus/commission program participation, RegEd’s total compensation package also includes our comprehensive benefits package in addition to vacation, sick, volunteer time off and paid parental leave.
