Role Summary

The McAfee Strategic Analytics team, part of the Analytics & Data Science organization, is expanding its capabilities to strengthen data-driven decision-making across a global direct-to-consumer business serving over 400 million customers. Our team is tasked with leading interesting analytics projects crossing business silos and partnering with technical experts to drive measurable outcomes. We are looking for a Data Analyst with a product-owner mindset who will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between raw telemetry and strategic business action. You wont just pull data; you will own the narrative, building scalable solutions in Databricks and uncovering root causes that drive marketing performance and product health. You will get credit for your work and exposure to McAfee's highest levels of leadership. This is a hybrid role based in the Waterloo, Canada. You will be required to be onsite on an as-needed basis; when not working onsite, you will work remotely from your home location. Position Details

About the role:

  • Drive Strategic Analytics: Move beyond descriptive reporting to diagnostic and predictive analysis. You will proactively identify business variances (e.g., retention drops, funnel leakage), isolate root causes (mix shift vs. performance), and recommend actionable solutions to leadership.
  • Own End-to-End Execution: Act with high agency to take projects from vague problem statements to deployed solutions. You will serve as the analytics lead for your domain, managing stakeholders, defining requirements, and driving progress with minimal supervision.
  • Architect Scalable Solutions: Design and build robust data pipelines and sandboxes within Databricks (PySpark/SQL) that serve as the "Single Source of Truth" for the organization. You will optimize code for performance and reliability.
  • Communicate with Impact: Serve as a "technical translator" who can synthesize complex data findings into clear, executive-level narratives. You will present insights in high-stakes forums to drive consensus and alignment.
  • Foster Data Excellence: Champion best practices in data governance, definitions, documentation, and ensuring that the business trusts the numbers you produce.
  • We are looking for someone curious about data, passionate about building analytical solutions, and eager to become a trusted data expert who empowers others through insight and clarity.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline with 2+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience performing data exploration, transformation, and analysis across large-scale relational and analytical datasets.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture principles, including logical and physical data modeling, data structure design, and data integration best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure data integrity and consistency across multiple data sources, and to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable, and well-structured data solutions.
  • Solid background in statistical analysis and experimentation, including hypothesis testing methodologies (Frequentist, Bayesian, or multivariate A/B testing).
  • Familiarity with data governance practices, metadata management, and documentation standards to support transparency, consistency, and operational excellence.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
