The Opportunity

New World Technologies (RAD Torque Systems) is a leading Canadian manufacturer of pneumatic, battery powered, and electronic pistol grip torque wrenches. RAD products have proven to be successful all over the world in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, aerospace, power generation and manufacturing.

The DevOps Developer / Engineer will join our multidisciplinary engineering team to design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and operational tooling that support next-generation industrial software and connected devices. You will enable reliable software delivery across firmware, backend, frontend, mobile application, and cloud environments while ensuring security, software supply chain integrity, scalability, observability, and operational excellence. Collaboration with firmware, backend, frontend, and IT teams is essential to power RAD's next generation of torque solutions.

This position is focused on software engineering platforms and development operations. It is not a traditional internal IT support role. This role reports and operates in the Software Engineering team.

  • Bachelor’s degree / diploma in a Software, Computer Science, or related technical discipline, or equivalent.

Experience 

  • 3+ years professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Infrastructure Engineering, or related software engineering roles. 

Technical Skills

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and platforms such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Infrastructure as Code, and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking fundamentals, automation, and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar).
  • Knowledge of secure software delivery practices, including secrets management, vulnerability management, certificate management, and automated security testing.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, observability tools, Git-based workflows, and production support.
  • Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases, modern software development practices, and Agile methodologies.
  • Exposure to embedded systems, firmware development, IoT, or connected devices is considered an asset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with embedded Linux environments, Yocto, firmware release automation, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Advanced Linux networking knowledge and experience with programming languages such as Go, C/C++, Rust, or JavaScript.

Job Duties

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting firmware, backend, frontend, mobile application, and cloud services. 
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for cloud and on-premises environments. 
  • Deploy, configure, and manage containerized workloads and orchestration platforms. 
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions for production and development environments. 
  • Automate provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows. 

Support software release processes, versioning, deployment automation, and rollback strategies.

  • Design and maintain security infrastructure and processes, including PKI, certificate lifecycle management, secrets management, encryption key management, secure device provisioning, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Integrate automated security scanning and compliance validation into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement and maintain software supply chain security controls, including artifact signing, dependency monitoring, and SBOM generation.
  • Work with software and firmware teams to ensure secure software delivery, release integrity, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Monitor and address vulnerabilities identified through application, infrastructure, container, and dependency scanning tools.
  • Collaborate with software and firmware teams to improve build, test, and deployment efficiency.  
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, networking, deployment, and production issues. 
  • Optimize platform reliability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency. 
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity processes for software delivery platforms, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD systems, source control repositories, build environments, and release management systems, in conjunction with IT procedures.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help define engineering standards and operational best practices. 
  • Participate in operational readiness reviews and post-incident analysis. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
