IT Services and IT Consulting · 11-50 employees
About the role
The AI Engineer will design and deploy an accounts payable automation system by integrating Oracle NetSuite with Anthropic's Claude. Responsibilities include ensuring audit-ready accuracy, managing document extraction pipelines, and conducting a live pilot for a commercial client.
What they look for
Requirements
Candidates must have proven experience deploying LLMs in production environments and integrating Python with third-party REST APIs. Applicants are required to have legal authorization to work in the United States as an independent contractor and must be available for mandatory travel to Houston.
Full description
Who are we? T12 Technologies LLC is a technology services company based in Maryland that provides cloud, AI and automation, cybersecurity, contact center, and back-office modernization services to clients at the federal, state, healthcare, and commercial levels. The current engagement involves developing an accounts payable automation system over a six-month period for a commercial client, integrating Oracle NetSuite with Anthropic's Claude.
The problem
The client's accounts payable team handles about ten thousand invoice emails each month by hand; some arrive as clean PDFs, while others are photographs taken on a mobile phone.
The intake process is managed by NetSuite Bill Capture, with Claude carrying out the extraction, classification and GL coding based on that. All automated decisions must be defensible to an auditor, since the client has already been let down by three previous vendors; nothing ships unless you can demonstrate it.
What you would own
- Get the extraction process to work on actual documents, not just on a clean set of samples. It should be tested on scans, on duplicates, and on invoices lacking the fields that are most needed.
- Determine what the system does in cases of uncertainty, including where it continues, where it stops, and what a human observes when it stops.
- Verify the accuracy by comparing the client's historical invoices in a manner that a controller will accept and an auditor can follow.
- Run a live pilot by carrying it out in parallel with manual processing for a period of thirty days while making adjustments based on what the real world provides.
- Give it to him so that it may survive you; the client doesn't have any AI facilities of their own and isn't going to hire one.
What we need
- The work involving the LLM that was actually deployed and that you then provided support for. It wasn't a proof of concept that had only reached the demo stage.
- Integrating Python with a REST API to work with systems that were not built by you.
- Extracting documents at production quality—such as invoices, forms, claims, and contracts—no matter how semi-structured and imperfect they may be.
- A method that can be used to check if the output is correct, together with the criterion for determining when an improvement is genuine.
- The necessary legal permission to work in the United States in an independent contractor capacity.
Helpful, not required
- Specifically Anthropic Claude, or Claude via Bedrock.
- Either NetSuite or any other ERP system that you needed to integrate with rather than one that you could control.
- The processing of documents relating to finance or accounting by AP.
- OCR and document-capture pipelines, especially when working with low-quality scans.
Travel
- The kickoff week is mandatory and not optional.
- You can expect another 3 to 5 days during the period, with these days being grouped around the pilot and go-live.
- It is essential that you can travel at short notice, no matter where you live—that is a firm requirement.
How we screen
We check the information that the candidates give us. Their references are contacted, their credentials are verified with the issuing body, and the final screening involves using actual, complicated documents rather than having an interview about your resume.
We prefer that you show us one thing that you actually built rather than providing a list of all the things you have worked on. If the best work you have done is covered by an NDA, then say so and we will adjust the scope of the exercise to include it.
To apply
Forward the following; applications not including the first two will not be considered.
• A link to something that you have built, such as a repository, an evaluation report, a design document, or a write-up, with any sensitive information redacted if necessary.
• Answer the question above with a few sentences.
- A resume or a profile together with two references from completed work.
- The total amount you are paid on an hourly basis and whether you take on the contract as a 1099 or through your own entity.
• The location of your base and proof that you will be present in Houston for the dates listed above.
- Your availability over the following six months.
Flexible work from home options available.
