Full description

HyperGuest is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build, and maintain our cloud infrastructure across development and production environments. In this role, you’ll work closely with software engineers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our platform.

While we use the term DevOps to align with industry standards, we view it as a broad set of principles and practices that guide how our entire company operates. This role goes far beyond basic configuration or automation — we’re looking for someone with deep, hands-on expertise in operating systems, networking, security, databases, and distributed systems. You'll be expected to develop solutions and resolve complex challenges in large-scale, cloud-based production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in system design, architecture, and technology decisions.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters and cloud resources for development and production environments.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Document and refine DevOps processes and practices.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotation of production services outside normal business hours.
  • Assist developers with daily tasks, deployments, and projects
  • Mentor and guide Junior DevOps engineers.

Requirements

  • 6 years of experience as a DevOps engineer in a production environment. Highly available services using clustering and redundancy are a must.
  • A strong understanding of Linux and network fundamentals. This includes, but is not limited to, kernel tuning, process management, inter-process communication, filesystems and disk I/O, DNS, basic routing and subnetting, IP protocols, in-transit encryption (SSL/TLS), and packet analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience using managed cloud services, including but not limited to, compute, network, storage, and databases, with a preference for AWS or GCP.
  • Proficiency with containers and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
  • Experience maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) with a preference for Terraform, Terragrunt desired.
  • Use of monitoring and logging tools - Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/OpenSearch are essential.
  • CI/CD Pipeline development. Experience with GitHub Actions and self-hosted runners are advantageous.
  • Strong shell scripting skills. Basic programming experience with a high-level language such as Python or Go is desired.
  • Working knowledge of security best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions that directly impact your work.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and writing skills.
