Senior Java Developer
Experience: 5+ years of hands on experience
Location: Newcastle (Must be local, or willing to relocate to Newcastle)
Working pattern: Hybrid- 3 days a week in the Newcastle office
Salary: between £45K-£60k dependent on experience level.
We're seeking experienced Java Developers who can take ownership of workstreams, contribute to technical direction and help drive engineering excellence across complex software delivery programmes.
What you'll be doing • Designing and developing Java and Spring Boot microservices
- Supporting solution design and technical decision-making
- Collaborating with architects, DevOps engineers and stakeholders
- Reviewing code and mentoring less experienced developers
- Driving best practice across development teams
- Ensuring applications are secure, resilient and scalable
What we're looking for • Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale applications
- Strong understanding of microservices and cloud deployment approaches
- Experience with CI/CD and modern engineering practices
- Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience
Essential RequirementsTo do well in this role, you’ll need:
- Some experience with Java development (academic, commercial, or personal projects).
- Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases.
- Exposure to Python for scripting or automation tasks.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn AWS cloud services.
- A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow.
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Ability to obtain SC clearance
