Job Purpose
Support activity with the Maintenance Repair Operations, North America Indirect Procurement, Spare Part Date Management, Production Engineering Business Unit purchasing to procure critical proprietary spare parts for all of the North America Plants. Help determine sourcing for spare parts; in-house, from Honda Motors, or by approved suppliers. Provide quote, when necessary, ship, bill, and support accounting as required for cost allocation. Arrange for assembly and quality check of spare parts as new suppliers are validated. Perform technical analysis of critical spare parts to determine if Production Engineering Business Unit can shift procurement to Maintenance Repair Operations via approved companies or suppliers when able. Help provide technical support, plant technical training, and perform repair and performance validation for specialized D-Products.
Key Accountabilities
- Work with Senior Engineer(s) within the group to provide D-Product technical support to ensure Manufacturing Management Center delivery stability on D-product issues (Servo Guns, Paint Bells, & Line End Testers) including but not limited to emergency support, creation of assembly and troubleshooting manuals, training suppliers and associates on correct assembly and tracking methods.
- Support the creation and monitoring of North America region Production Engineering Business Unit supplied spare parts to ensure all factors are considered including: tracking of delivery, process time, specialty purchase parts orders. Support the creation and tracking of North America region D-product rebuilds along with ensuring the process required to achieve quality is maintained on in-house and supplier-built D-product assembly’s.
- Assist in the validation of replenishment stock orders for Maintenance Repair Operations, Working with North America Indirect Procurement and Senior Engineer(s) within the group to set the localization plan or direct supplier setting of Production Engineering Business Unit proprietary items. Assist in the optimization of direct order details and reduction of Production Engineering Business Unit order quantity to create ideal Quality Corporate Document characteristics.
- Help ensure North America Region spare parts inventory for D-product is properly planned to ensure regional Quality Corporate Document characteristics are achieved, Support discussions with Honda Motor for orders to Japan – Including but not limited to the creation of Request for Quote (RFQs), requisitions and communication between Production Engineering Business Unit and Honda Motor.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or equivalent job experience
Minimum Experience;
- 0-2 years of technical/engineering work experience in Manufacturing (focus in specialized area a plus)
Other Job-Specific Skills:
- Application of engineering and manufacturing principles
- Technical experience with HDMA D-products – weld guns, paint bells, machining gang-heads
- Willingness to go to the spot (plant floor, supplier) and perform hands-on analysis and work as required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office & SAP
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills to communicate effectively both with customers and internal project teams
- Business acumen in a technical environment
Working Conditions
- Flexible Work Hours & Schedule if needed. Work on the floor, in office, and attend/report at meetings.
- Ability to Travel, both domestic and international (
- 5-15 hours of OT per week.
- Weekend, holiday, and emergency support work may be required.
