What I am accountable for

  • Collect, consolidate and maintain sustainability data from internal systems, suppliers and external sources, ensuring it is complete, consistent and traceable
  • Validate data quality, investigate anomalies and work with data owners to resolve gaps, improve controls and strengthen reporting confidence
  • Analyse sustainability performance across operations, products and supply chains, including GHG’s, carbon emissions, responsible sourcing, packaging, waste, circularity and other relevant environmental measures
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards and recurring reports that track performance against targets and highlight trends, risks and opportunities
  • Translate complex datasets into concise insight, commentary and recommendations for operational teams, governance forums and senior stakeholders
  • Support carbon accounting, forecasting, scenario analysis and target tracking using agreed methodologies and clear, auditable assumptions
  • Partner with commercial, technical, sourcing, finance, data and supplier teams to define data requirements and embed effective sustainability data processes
  • Maintain clear data definitions, methodologies and documentation to support assurance, regulatory disclosures and internal governance
  • Provide accurate, complete and traceable data, calculations, evidence and audit support for year-end sustainability, climate and energy reporting, including but not limited to TCFD, SECR and ESOS
  • Identify opportunities to automate, simplify and improve data collection, analysis and reporting, increasing efficiency and insight quality

What I need to know

  • Degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience in data analytics, sustainability, environmental science, statistics, business, geography or a related discipline
  • Experience collecting, cleaning, validating and analysing large or complex datasets, with strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills and experience using data visualisation or business intelligence tools to create clear dashboards and reports
  • Ability to identify trends, anomalies, risks and opportunities and turn analysis into clear, actionable insight for different audiences
  • Understanding of sustainability metrics, including carbon emissions, supplier and product data, and broader environmental indicators
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage recurring reporting cycles, multiple data requests and competing priorities
  • Experience documenting data definitions, calculation methodologies, assumptions and controls to provide transparency and an effective audit trail
  • Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence explaining technical findings to non-technical colleagues and working collaboratively with data owners
  • Desirable: experience with Power BI, Tableau or a comparable visualisation platform, plus structured data from multiple systems
  • Desirable: working knowledge of SQL, data modelling, automation tools, carbon accounting, the GHG Protocol, lifecycle assessment or sustainability disclosure frameworks
  • Desirable: experience with product, supplier, procurement or retail datasets, data assurance, regulatory reporting, sustainability targets or forecasts
