Project Manager, Commercial Construction Penn State Construction | Lewistown, PA | Full-Time

Penn State Construction is seeking a Project Manager with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of commercial construction experience to plan, coordinate, and deliver projects from handoff through closeout. This role requires strong planning, communication, and financial oversight to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and set up for successful field execution. 

Responsibilities

Plan & Prepare Projects for Successful Field Execution

  • Participate in project handoff meetings with the estimating team, project specific Superintendent, and Foremen
  • Issue baseline schedules, procurement plans, and scope clarifications
  • Confirm long lead items and coordinate materials and equipment to keep production on schedule
  • Prepare submittals, source of supply documents, and required certifications
  • Communicate risks, constraints, and key milestones before work begins

Lead Execution Through Communication & Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Attend progress meetings and represent PSC professionally with clients and project teams
  • Generate RFIs, manage responses, and clarify scope questions promptly
  • Support Superintendents with timely direction and problem solving to resolve field issues quickly
  • Manage multiple projects at once, prioritizing deadlines and keeping each one on track

Control Project Financials & Protect Margin

  • Track labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs against the approved project budget
  • Prepare accurate monthly progress invoices and pay applications
  • Review subcontractor and vendor payment requests
  • Manage pricing, submission, and tracking of change orders to protect project margin
  • Forecast final project costs and margins throughout the project lifecycle

Deliver Professional Closeouts & Build Client Relationships

  • Attend closeout meetings, conduct final walkthroughs, and generate punch lists
  • Coordinate punch list responsibilities with field staff and subcontractors
  • Submit complete closeout documentation, including as builts, warranties, and O&M manuals
  • Secure final acceptance and confirm owner satisfaction
  • Maintain client relationships to strengthen future project opportunities

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of commercial construction project management experience required
  • Strong planning, communication, scheduling, and financial management skills required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with clarity and accountability required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF/plan review tools (AutoCAD, Adobe) required
  • Working knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and industry standards required

Working Conditions Primarily office based with jobsite visits.
