Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Financial Analyst or Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

 

What does a Financial Analyst or Senior Financial Analyst

They are responsible for providing business decision support. Additional duties include:

  • Performing specialized financial, accounting, budgeting, planning activities and analysis
  • Acting as a consultant on financial policy, procedure, and application
  • Preparing and presenting conclusions and recommendations to management
  • Requiring knowledge of financial and accounting theory, principles and practices, regulatory recovery methods, and utility ratemaking practices

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

·         Financial theory (such as time value of money, discounted cash flows, capital structure, and the development of weighted average cost of capital), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) accounting

·         The Company’s revenue requirement and cost recovery mechanisms and applies those in modeling

Skills in:

·         Effective oral and written communication, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation

·         Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management

·         Proficiency in Excel, Word, and query tools

Ability to:

·         Meet deadlines

·         Gather, organize, analyze, and communicate information proficiently

·         Work independently and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment

·         Design, create, and troubleshoot complex models utilizing advanced functions like pivot tables, lookups, financial functions, advanced formatting, etc., in Excel

·         Efficiently extract data from complex ERP systems

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Financial Analyst

Education:

·         Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

Preferred:

o   Additional college classes in finance and/or accounting above the bachelor's degree requirements or advanced degree in related field

Experience:

·         2 years of professional experience in accounting or finance

Preferred:

o   Utility experience

Licenses & Certifications:

·         N/A

Preferred:

o   Professional certification such as CFA, CMA, or CPA

 

Senior Financial Analyst

Education:

·         Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

Preferred:

o   Additional college classes in finance and/or accounting above the bachelor's degree requirements or advanced degree in related field

Experience:

·         5 or more years of professional experience in finance or accounting.

Preferred:

o   Utility experience

Licenses & Certifications:

·         N/A

Preferred:

o   Professional certification such as CFA, CMA, or CPA

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position is a sedentary job requiring working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. Ergonomic accommodations including sit-to-stand desks are available and installed as needed.
