Full description
Communications that have to work in a field, not just in a lab. You would design them.
A multinational defence organisation near Brussels needs a senior solution engineer to own the architecture of complex deployable systems, where power, wireless and satellite links all have to fit together. You would set the standards other projects build to.
What you would be doing
- Leading architecture for complex solutions and keeping it true to the agreed requirements
- Setting the principles for choosing architecture components and explaining trade-offs to stakeholders
- Keeping one stable target architecture across several projects at once
- Running scoping and requirements work on large initiatives, including baselines and change control
- Making security and privacy part of systems development from the start
- Producing or approving network designs: topology, capacity, interfaces, security and access
- Assessing network risk and defining recovery and contingency procedures
What you would bring
- A Master's degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's and 8 years
- Experience leading teams of technical staff
- Knowledge of deployable, dispersible and highly mobile CIS technology
- Design and integration experience with AC power distribution, emergency generators and UPS
- A good understanding of wireless technology, including SATCOM
- Architecture modelling (UML, SysML or ArchiMate), ideally within NAFv4, TOGAF or DODAF and MBSE
- Hands-on experience fielding, testing and maintaining modern communications equipment
- ITIL Foundation and PRINCE2 Foundation or PMP
- A plus: Federated Mission Networking, PRINCE2 Practitioner, ArchiMate or TOGAF certification
Why this one is worth a look
Real technical authority: the architecture you set is the one the field teams rely on.
