About the Role

This is a raw-talent hire at a fast-growing AI startup in the supply chain and retail space, where the team is scaling rapidly and every week brings new records. You will join a small, exceptionally high-calibre data science function and be expected to operate at the output level of an entire team from early on. Domain knowledge is not required, quant depth, engineering instinct, and the drive to build in a zero-to-one environment are what matter.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship production-grade data science and ML systems end-to-end, from messy raw data to deployed models.
  • Use agentic AI coding tools daily to accelerate your output and set the bar for the team around you.
  • Operate autonomously in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment where priorities shift weekly.
  • Work closely with engineering and product to translate quantitative insight into real business impact.
  • Ramp quickly on a new domain and contribute meaningfully within your first weeks.

What We're Looking For

  • 5 to 10 or more years of experience in a technical or engineering role, with strong demonstrated output.
  • A quantitative degree or equivalent rigour, maths, physics, statistics, CS, or a PhD-level background in a related field from a highly selective institution.
  • Daily hands-on use of agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent. This is a hard requirement.
  • Experience as an early employee (first 15 hires) at a startup; you know what zero-to-one looks like and thrive in it.
  • Strong raw ability and drive, signal of high output and intellectual horsepower matters more than your job title.
  • Comfort with messy, real-world data and a bias toward shipping over perfecting.
  • Based in Berlin or genuinely willing to relocate.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: 70,000 to 110,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is available. Relocation support is provided for candidates moving to Berlin.

Location

Hybrid, based in Berlin, Germany.
