About Bokra

Bokra is a Cairo-based Sharia-compliant fintech and wealthtech platform helping retail and SME investors save and invest across asset classes, real estate, precious metals, and debt instruments, through goal-based, asset-backed investment products. Backed by DisrupTech Ventures and SS Capital, and recently granted VC and PE licenses by Egypt's FRA, Bokra is scaling fast across Egypt and into the wider MENA/GCC region.

The Role

Bokra is looking for a Head of Engineering to own the architecture and technical delivery of its investment platform. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll design the systems, set the technical direction, and stay close to the code, while leading a small, high-trust engineering team and growing it as Bokra scales.

What You'll Do

- Architect and design Bokra's platform, making the key technical decisions for a regulated financial product: reliability, security, scalability, and data integrity

- Stay hands-on (about 60% of your time): reviewing and writing critical code, solving hard technical problems, and setting the engineering bar

- Lead and develop the engineering team (1 tech lead, 2 frontend, 2 backend): hiring, mentoring, performance, and career growth (about 40% of your time)

- Own delivery with Product, Design, and the Group Product Manager, turning priorities into clear technical plans and predictable releases

- Drive engineering standards: code quality, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident response

- Build security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance into how the team works, as expected of an FRA-licensed platform

- Plan for scale as Bokra launches new products and expands into new markets

- Report on engineering health, delivery, and risk to leadership

What We're Looking For

- 8+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in technical leadership (Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, or Tech Lead managing a team)

- Strong hands-on experience with Elixir is a huge plus

- Proven fintech experience (payments, banking, investing, or other regulated financial products)

- Demonstrated ability to architect and design systems end-to-end, not just implement them

- Experience leading and growing a small engineering team, balancing coding with people management

- Strong communicator, able to work across Product, Compliance, and Business teams

Nice to Have

- Experience with high-security, compliance-heavy environments

- Experience scaling a platform across multiple MENA/GCC markets

- Familiarity with Sharia-compliant financial products or Islamic finance

- Experience building and hiring engineering teams in a startup or scale-up
