Project Scope
We are seeking a Business Analyst to serve as the connective tissue between business objectives and technical delivery for a healthcare IT program. This role will drive clear, well-ordered requirements, maintain a groomed backlog, and ensure the delivery team always knows what it is building and why.
Position Summary
The Business Analyst will partner closely with the Product Owner and engineering teams to shape product strategy, translate user needs into actionable user stories, and serve as the team's working source of truth for business logic, requirements, analysis, and feature validation. This individual will manage competing priorities, support stakeholder reviews, and ensure delivered features meet defined acceptance criteria. The ideal candidate brings 4–7 years of business analysis experience, strong data skills, and the ability to move fluidly between big-picture strategy and operational detail in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Product Owner to shape end-to-end product strategy and define the business value of proposed work.
- Elicit, document, and refine requirements against team and stakeholder goals.
- Translate user needs into user stories and acceptance criteria an engineering team can act on without further interpretation.
- Maintain a groomed backlog three to four sprints ahead of the team.
- Serve as the team's day-to-day point of contact for requirement clarification.
- Act as proxy to the Product Owner on day-to-day priority and scope decisions, staying in sync on anything that changes direction.
- Work with engineering to assess technical feasibility and surface trade-offs before work enters a sprint.
- Validate delivered features against acceptance criteria and support user acceptance testing.
- Define, instrument, and track performance metrics once a solution reaches production.
- Prepare and support the team through product demos and stakeholder reviews.
- Maintain a durable record of requirements, decisions, and the rationale behind them.
- Ensure requirements and acceptance criteria reflect applicable regulatory, privacy, and data-handling obligations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- 4–7 years in a business analyst or equivalent role.
- Working knowledge of analytics and visualization tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications an engineering team can build from.
- Data analysis skills sufficient to interrogate a dataset directly rather than relying on others.
- Experience defining and managing KPIs and success measures.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery practice including facilitation of Agile ceremonies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 80% as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep domain knowledge in a regulated or data-sensitive environment combined with strong analytics product delivery experience.
- Experience delivering analytics or data products in a regulated industry.
- Prior experience as a Product Owner or in a product-adjacent role.
- CBAP, PMI-PBA, Certified Scrum Product Owner, or equivalent certification.
- Familiarity with operational workflows, roles, and source systems in a healthcare environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Organized, detail-oriented analyst who keeps the team grounded in what users actually need while managing a complex, evolving backlog.
- Strong communicator who can bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Critical thinker who moves comfortably between high-level strategy and day-to-day operational detail.
- Intellectually curious professional with a demonstrated appetite for learning new domains.
- Brings structure, clarity, and accountability to every product delivery engagement.
