The Role at a Glance
As a QA Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the quality, accuracy, and reliability of our fast-growing automotive insurance platform. Joining our core Platform Team as we scale our QA practice from 1 to 2 engineers, you will serve as a key guardian of product excellence. Working in close collaboration with developers, product designers, and business analysts, you will analyse system requirements, design exhaustive test scenarios, and execute end-to-end testing across web apps, APIs, and backend databases to deliver flawless user experiences.
Key Responsibilities•
- End-to-End Testing: Design, write, and execute comprehensive test cases covering happy paths, complex logic, and edge cases across web applications and backend systems
•
- API & Data Verification: Perform integration testing using API tools (e.g., Postman) and run SQL queries to inspect backend database states and verify system integrity
•
- Agile Collaboration: Participate in sprint planning, refinement, and requirement grooming alongside Business Analysts and Developers to catch edge cases early in the design phase
•
- Defect Lifecycle Management: Log, track, and retest bugs in Jira, providing developers with clear reproduction steps, API payloads, and query logs to streamline resolution
•
- Quality Ownership: Take complete ownership of quality sign-offs for platform features as part of a lean, high-autonomy testing function.
About YouCore Requirements
•
- Proven QA Expertise: 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in manual software quality assurance, with a track record of shipping stable, complex platform releases
•
- Technical & Data Literate: Comfortable writing SQL queries for database verification and performing API testing (RESTful endpoints, request/response validation, status code verification)
•
- Complex Workflow Experience: Skilled in testing complex user journeys, multi-step transaction funnels, or state-machine platforms (e.g., FinTech, SaaS, E-commerce, or similar data-heavy domains)
•
- Methodical & Detail-Driven: Exceptional ability to break down ambiguous business requirements into precise, exhaustive test scenarios
•
- Agile Communicator: Experience working in Agile/Kanban setups with strong cross-functional communication skills
•
- Qualified: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have (Strongly Preferred, Not Essential)
- Experience in Insurance, InsurTech, or Automotive workflows (e.g., policy lifecycles, quote engines, partner white-label portals).
